1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Where do you buy hankies? on: February 14, 2009 07:19:02 AM
I just started embroidering about 3 weeks ago and I'm so addicted! I can't stop! I already have a little stash of projects that I want to do. I would love to embroider on some hankies, but I have no idea where I would even buy a hanky. Can any of you recommend a place to buy them? I would prefer to buy them in bulk and I'm willing to order over the internet Smiley

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My photography final is DONE! 12 pics inside! on: December 10, 2007 12:39:48 PM
I'm a photography major. I decided (stupidly) to take a photo class my first semester of college. All I can is this: it was time consuming. For our final, we had to have 12 fiber paper prints, 5 of them had to be double matted, have an artists statement, and burn it all onto a disc. After doing crazy printing (uh...I printed 8 prints in TWO hours. That's ridiculous), I went on to my least favorite part of photography: matting. I hate it. Today, I finished up by linen taping all my stuff. So, here's my final. Cookies to whoever figures out what my "concept" is! Let me also preface this by saying that there are some with camera shake Sad Also, most of the white spots you see are dust from the scanner, not from the negatives!

First, hands and stomachs:

Next, necks:

I present tomorrow! Thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy!
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Mac users: Help with stationery! on: December 03, 2007 12:59:14 PM
I have a MacBook. I love it. I also have a scanner. I love it, too. I also like to doodle. Some of these doodles (IMO), would look really cute on some of my plain stationery. I know I can scan them in, but I don't know how to get them onto Pages. I know how to insert photos from iPhoto into Pages, but I can't seem to figure out how to get stuff from my scanner output folder into Pages.

Any tips at all would help!
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Darkroom prints! on: October 26, 2007 08:15:32 PM
First off, let me apologize for the dust on these prints! They are not that dirty, I swear! I should clean the scanner before using it!

I'll start off with my newest prints:
My little neighbor, Lauryn.

Part of my church's parking lot, and a main highway

Catepillar on fence

My first, and favorite, print

Hummingbird feeder

My sister

Sis again

This was an example of juxtaposition

My sister, looking forlorn

My sister's feet in the mud

A brick

My sister's hands...everyone always loves this one!

There's just some of my stuff. Most of it is from last year. The first three are from this year. Critiques? Questions, comments, concerns? I hope you all enjoy!
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Necklace for Toddler? on: December 09, 2006 07:51:54 AM
My neighbor is about 18 months old, and she LOVES necklaces. She likes to just hold them or look at them. I thought it would be fun to make her a little wooden bead necklace.

I'm going to paint them, then seal them, and they won't be toxic or anything. The beads are too big for her to swallow, so I'm not worried about her choking or anything.

The one thing I'm worried about is what to string the beads together with. I've done a wooden bead necklace before, and I just used a ribbon. Would this work for the baby's necklace? I could tie a knot before and after each bead, and then tie the ends in a few knots to make sure that it doesn't come undone.

Thanks in advance, Craftsters!
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / My ATCs for school. Lots of pics. on: December 04, 2006 06:11:03 PM
I'm in a photography class at school. The teacher thought that on the rare days that we don't have anything to work on, that we should do some ATCs. I thought it was a great idea. We do 6 every six weeks, but since we started in the middle of the 2nd six weeks, we had to do 8 for this six weeks. I usually do them the night before, so this time I did them 10 days before! Yay! My first set was pretty bad, but I like the way most of these came out.

"Gorgeous hair looks as if it's never been dyed"

"Contents under pressure"

"Recharge your batteries"

"Just when someone thinks they know you, introduce them to someone else"

"You think you're so cool. You're not"

"I just want to be"

"Get your happy" This one has little contact sheet prints on it.

And one of my favorties for what it says, not what it looks like:
"Hair removal. Fast. Easy. Fun." That's what the ad really said!

And a bad, bad pic of all of them
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Please help me find a pattern! on: August 04, 2006 10:59:31 AM
A couple of months ago, I found this really cute baby sweater pattern. It was on someone's blog. It was a cream colored cardigan and it had eyelets around the neckline and down the front flaps. I'm pretty sure there was a white ribbon that was tied into a bow through two of the eyelets at the top. I could've sworn I printed it out, or saved it, but it's nowhere to be found. So, If yall have seen it lately, or if you're the creator of the pattern, please tell me where I can find it again! Thanks SO much!~Raychel
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / 2nd Clapotis done! Lots of pics inside! on: July 18, 2006 10:27:49 AM
I knitted a Clapotis a couple of months ago. It was a horrible experience. I only used the yarn because it was the only one I had enough of. It took forever, and I pretty much just didn't like it.

Then, I saw someone knit one up in Blue Heron Rayon Metallic yarn and i just had to make another one. So, here it is! I LOVE it. I started it on July 10, and finished on July 14. It's smaller than the pattern calls for, but it's the perfect length. The finished measurements are 25" by 54".

Here are the pictures. I used Blue Heron Rayon Metallic yarn in Spanish Dancer. The first couple of pictures are NOT it's real color.

Here are the true colors:

This one is blurry, but you can barely see some of the "wrong" side.

Clapotis #1 with Clapotis #2:

I've already gotten to use both of them! The big purple one was used on my flight to Florida, and I got to use my new one on my flight home from Florida! I'm very glad I decided to make this second one! I love it! Enjoy!
