1  Some Christmas Amigurumi! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by yoguiana on: December 04, 2015 09:50:58 AM
It has been quite a while since my last post but just in time for Christmas Wink

As inspiration I just combined two of my favourite things: Cats & Crochet. And you might ask how about the robin? Well, they are cats favourites, no?

So what do you think?

2  Mia, the Cat! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by yoguiana on: April 02, 2015 09:19:37 AM

Today is a project with a nostalgic feel. When I was a kid I loved dressing up dolls! I used to make them all sorts of clothes, 'though not in crochet as I learned it only many many years later.
So I thought why not creating a doll, not any doll but a cat one which I can make many different outfits? So Mia was born.

I also tried to give Mia a more cat like head shape with more details but still keeping the simple look. If that makes sense Wink

What do you think?

3  Piero, the lifeguard Guinea Pig! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by yoguiana on: February 24, 2015 07:25:29 AM
So I've learned that guinea pigs are great swimmers and that gave me a great idea for a new amigurumi! Why not a lifeguard guinea pig?

So say "hello" to Piero!

It's the first time I made some "fingers". What do you think?

5  In a roof not so far away... in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by yoguiana on: November 30, 2014 10:00:25 AM
The Force and the Dark Side just got much cuter! Meet their new recruits: Tommy Roofwalker and Darth Kat.

Just thought it'd be quite some fun if the Star Wars universe would have a feline spin! What do you think?

I'm already tinkering the next character and outfit... it's addicting Wink

6  Dirty Dancing Johnny & Baby in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by yoguiana on: July 21, 2014 06:33:05 AM

Was watching a program about 80's movies when I had this idea to make the main characters of my favourite one. A guilty pleasure really as I can't say how many times I watched it.
I thought that as many things in life this likeness would pass too but I have to admit that I love the film the first time I watched it and I've still loved it.
So I hope I managed to capture Dirty Dancing's Johnny & Baby well. I'm quite happy about Baby's hair and dress and Johnny's hair was a bit of a trouble but I'm really pleased with the results.

Did I manage to capture "the time of your life"?

And don't forget: "Nobody puts Baby in the corner" Wink

7  Toffee the Teddy Bear in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by yoguiana on: April 29, 2014 07:20:19 AM

Last February I've become an aunt for the 3rd time! Since then I start wondering what should I make to my new nephew. I thought maybe a cardigan but I must confess I'm not too much into crocheting clothing.
Then Trolli came to my mind! Trolli is my husband's childhood teddy bear and he keeps him to this day. So I decided a teddy bear would be perfect for Henry.

I hope Toffee will be loved and cherished for a long time!

By the way, I wrote a pattern for Toffee so if there's a loved one in need of a friend...

9  Crochet Magic Ring, the ring to rule them all ;) in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by yoguiana on: March 14, 2014 11:24:44 AM

Crochet Magic Ring, Im sure you were already introduced to it. If not, its time for you to know it!

When I started making amigurumis they all begun the same way: ch3, sl st to first ch to form a ring or ch2,  x sc  in the 2nd ch from hook. Does that sound familiar? This technique usually leaves quite a hole in the first round, looking not so tidy. So if youd like your amigurumis to look perfect beginning to end the magic ring is the solution for you. And once youve learned it, theres no going back.

So lets start with this tutorial!

- First, start by making a loop with your yarn (1)

- Then hold your loop with your thumb and ring finger. (2)

- Insert your hook through loop, yarn over and chain 1. (3)

- Next, insert your hook through the loop and sc. (4 &5)

- Repeat sc for 5 times. (6)

- Now hold your work with one hand and pull the tail of the ring with the other hand. (7)

- And were done! See what a perfect first round? No holes!

10  Bunny & Daffodil in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by yoguiana on: February 28, 2014 12:36:33 PM
I don't know about you but I can't wait for Spring. Here in the UK we had so much rain that we are literally "soaked".

So while waiting for the new season I created this little bunny. First he wasn't going to hold anything but then I thought I can't wait for some daffodils as they're really a sign that Spring is coming, so he got himself one.

I did struggle a bit with the daffodil as with the tiny size, it was a bit difficult to get it to look right. But I thought I did manage it... what do you think?

Also I think I got a little inspired by the moogles from Final Fantasy XII. Can you see a resemblance?
