1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Faulty Adidas leggings into strapless LBD on: August 05, 2019 01:16:04 AM

Hi Craftster, wow think it must have been 5 years since I last posted! I'm branching out into the world of dressmaking!

Had a bunch of terrible quality Adidas leggings, the stripes kept coming off and they were pretty see through. Customer service weren't very forthcoming with help or a refund, so voila! A very stripy dress, just in time for a music festival later this week!

No pattern, just tried to piece the legs together keeping the stripes as parallel as possible and then kept trying it on and pinning and nipping.

Hope you like it x

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My first ever sewn garment - dolphin skirt on: July 02, 2016 02:12:59 PM
My mom taught me how to sew today. I chose 4-way stretch fabric, much to my mom's chagrin. Both incredibly pleased with the result, finally a skirt I can wear to work that suits my personal style!

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crochet inspired by patchwork: Sawtooth star (Work in progress) on: January 17, 2016 02:41:03 PM
Hi all!

Started working on this blanket for my mom's birthday. Two days' work so far and I'm loving how it's coming along.

My mom is an avid patchwork quilter so when I discovered half-granny-squares I loved the idea of piecing them together to make a patchwork quilt design!

This is a sawtooth star, one of my mom's favourite blocks (nearly, but not completely, joined together). I'm hoping to add some smaller sawtooth stars around the outside and keep building to a double bed size.

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Ninja Die Antwoord embroidered portrait on: July 23, 2014 05:32:39 AM
I really loved doing this portrait of Ninja from one of my favourite bands, Die Antwoord. Done in a 7 inch hoop I've been working on this for about a week for the embroidered portrait hoopla wall I'm collecting for. I added some gold-plated chain to bring the picture out of the frame and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
Thanks for looking!

5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / wedding gift embroidery on: July 10, 2014 02:06:39 PM
My cousin is getting married at the end of the month and here's what I made for her. Font for the names is from dafont.com and the rest I drew freehand onto the fabric.

6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Joanna Newsom embroidered portrait on: July 08, 2014 10:13:32 AM
I really enjoyed making this seven inch hoop. I used seed stitch, stem stitch, back stitch, satin stitch and French knots and it took me five days to make. She's one of my favourite musicians.

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock portrait on: July 02, 2014 11:44:43 AM

Hey Craftster it's been a while!!  Here's my embellished cumberbatch done with backstitch, seed stitch and lazy daisies... I'm very pleased with it.
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Portrait of my friend... on: December 14, 2012 02:16:15 PM
So my friend's mate is a really good illustrator and I contacted her behind his back to see if she'd help me out making him a Christmas present.

She drew this awesome picture of him and I embroidered it, all backstitch.

The beauty of doing a collaboration like this is that I would never choose a picture with such a busy background normally as I don't like doing repetetive stitching but this looks really nice I think, I hope he loves it!

Was a bit torn on whether to do the entire thing in black but opted for three different colours for the leaves to make it pop!

9  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / FACE PAINTS! on: November 10, 2012 06:23:59 AM
Here are some face paints I've done on myself[blue hair] for raves and Halloween parties recently! Hope you like them Smiley

Tribal!

Made this one up...no theme but thought it was like a cool superhero face paint...excuse my weird thumb trick!

Only responsible for the makeup and wound on the left in this one, we were going out for Bristol zombie walk!

10  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Futuristic animal ideas needed!! on: October 02, 2012 11:29:04 AM
Hi! I'm going to a rave at the weekend on short notice and the theme is futuristic animals. My current plan is to just stick some sequins onto a zebra face paint as pretty much all I can do on short notice is something I can face paint/add glitter to. I could probably stretch to making ears or something simple also but I have uni all week so nothing too taxing. Any ideas for something a bit more entertaining than a sparkly zebra?

The ideas on the invite said techno shrimp, laser giraffe and things of that ilk, I'm quite fond of a pun so any puns would be awesome!x
