284  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Unmentionables at craft fairs and other questions on: March 15, 2006 04:58:35 PM
I've never been to one before because I've lived in a VERY rural area not close to anything. But I was wondering if anyone saw and/or offered to sell any 'unmentionable' type items. I'm talking from underwear, to cloth pads, to 'adult' themed items. Did anyone have a bad reaction to this? Would the fair have rules or restrictions on this? How would you present these sort of crafts? I was just wondering but I would really like to know just incase I do this in the future *hinthint* Wink

And another question, what if you wanted to take up a collection for a charity? Could you do that? And if you said "All proceeds go to so and so charity" could you keep a portion of the money to help pay for the materials you brought to make the stuff?

Another question but could you sell stuff at, like, county and state fairs? Cause then I could get too threes fairs in the fall if you can. Where i live at now, I am sort of close to where the State fair is held. Anyway, that is all of the questions i have for now. Thanks

288  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / my first sewed clothing item! The infamous circle skirt! on: March 14, 2006 07:13:50 PM
Hi everyone. I've never really sewn that much in my life. Then I moved with my sister. She isnt very crafty at all. But then I found craftster and got really interested n sewing. One day my sister saw me on this site and she told me there was some stuff in the attic. I was so excited I went right up there and I found a sewing machine!! I was so so surprised! Its called the dressmaker and its one of those mini machines. Anyway I made some pads and I got started on this this circle skirt. Here a link to some pics of m pads

anyway back to the skirt. The pics are not all that great but here it is

and heres a sort of close up

The fabric is blues with little kitties and mice on them. Its longer than I expected and it dont have any buttons on it but I wanted to show my first piece of clothing off! What do you think?
289  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: DIY Cloth Pads Tutorial on: March 14, 2006 07:05:12 PM
Yay I did it! Here are some pictures! Whoo. Im so happy! Grin

I was a pack horse! I made 4 inserts 2 panty liners and two pads all from 1/2 yard of fabric I found at walmeart. My sister let me splerge on new fabric. Heres a shot of the back

I dont have a pic of the back of the panty liners but one is red like the insert and the other has cola fabric on it. Smiley

Oh and princess blueberry send me some super duper super pads for me. Thanks princessblueberry!

Yay! Thats it for now. I cant wait to make more and use them on my next 'monthly' Smiley

290  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Sweat Shoppe swap on: March 13, 2006 08:38:24 AM
I dont have any suggestions but I would definately consider this swap! Its more large scale than other swaps but at least you wouldnt have to stick to a theme and you get 5 different things from 5 different people. Oh or you could group people together in groups if more people were interested. Then you could group them sort of by interest or by what they wanted and what they could make. Anyway thats just my two cents Smiley
