21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / small and bright 2nd purse on: April 14, 2006 05:30:23 PM
This is my 2nd ever handbag.  I'm starting to get the hang of it and I'm having fun designing my patterns.  This is made from cotton fabric and reinforced with lightweight cotton batting.  It is about 7 x 11 with a short strap.  I made it to be a fun daytime purse- for luncheons with the ladies or browsing at the shops  Cheesy
Opinions?  What would you do differently?

22  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / bridal shower favors-HELP on: March 30, 2006 06:30:00 PM
My girlfriend is getting married and we are giving her a shower in July.  The theme is "Flower Garden" and it will be outdoors.  I am supposed to come up with some favor ideas.  I have lots of time before the shower to craft things, but I will need to make about 50.  Actually, one of the other bridesmaids is crafty too, so we could split the work.  Please give me all your ideas- I need to pitch them to her on Monday!

My only idea thus far is felt flower pins...
23  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / acrylic - 1st in series on: March 29, 2006 06:05:50 PM
So I was motivated by my friend who has been asking me for a painting for years.  She just bought a house, so I thought I'd finally work on something for her as a housewarming gift.  I've been into recreating architectural details from old houses lately- but I was just sketching.  Now I decided to go back and turn some of my sketches into a series of paintings.  I just finished the first one.  This is pretty small... maybe 5x6. The colors don't look so hot on my computer...
24  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Flannel scrap quilt on: March 04, 2006 07:42:59 PM
I'm not a quilter per se... but I had all these lovely scraps of flannel in my scrap box.  I decided to make a quilt for my 2-year-old daughter and dug up all the pink and yellow I could find.  The squares are flannel- but I ran out of flannel, so the border is regular cotton fabric.  The backing is white flannel that I found on sale.  I didn't use any batting because the flannel seemed so warm already and my daughter doesn't like heavy blankets.  It took about a week to make- certainly nothing fancy, but it was so rewarding to see my scraps transform into something so pretty and useful  Grin.

25  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Toddler Capri Set on: March 02, 2006 05:16:18 PM
Butterick B4543.  The written instructions were kind of vague, but the pics were easy to follow.   It was VERY easy and quick, and it turned out very well.
26  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Capri Set for Toddler on: March 02, 2006 05:12:45 PM
Loved making this!  I had so much fun and it was really easy.  I don't do complicated projects.  I did it in 2 evenings after my daughter went to bed.  It is a size 3T, which is a bit big, but should fit her by summer.  If not, I'll take in the waist a little.  It was Butterick B4543.  I have some other fun material and I am going to make her the top and skirt next.
27  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Tutu for Toddler on: February 28, 2006 09:26:39 AM
Thanks to craftster (I looked back at all the tutu projects) my daughter got the tutu she's been begging me for.  I bought 3 yards of tulle and used some stretchy material from an old turtleneck to make the waist.  I thought the tulle would be more difficult to work with than it was.  My daughter couldn't be happier- in fact, she won't take it off (I made her take it off to go to bed).
