32  Sock Monkey Pillow Case in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Drea4545 on: June 20, 2006 04:43:42 PM
So, I forgot our wedding anniversary (oops).  My husband was out of town for work and sent me flowers.  He was going to be home around midnight, so I headed up to my sewing room and put together something I knew he'd be crazy over. I left it on the kitchen island so he'd see it as soon as he walked in the door (My husband ADORES sock monkeys).

It is a pillowcase for an airline pillow (he swiped it on his last trip).  I had some sock monkey fabric that I bought a long time ago and wasn't sure what to do with.  The sock monkey face is cut from felt, fused, and then sewn on.  He can take the pillowcase with him when he travels (he goes cross-country a lot) and stick it on the airline pillows and think of me (and our daughter)  Grin.

I'm glad you like it!  Yes, the fabric on the case is suiting.  I thought it went well with the retro-looking green patterned fabric.  I had lots of fun with the whole project  Grin. ( I guess I should have included a pillbox hat  Cheesy, although not so good for inducing sleep). I did take a couple pics, but your scans are pretty clear.

37  Tootsie Roll short-set for kid in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Drea4545 on: May 07, 2006 09:46:15 AM
I've been trying to figure out what to do with the tootsie roll fabric that's been in my fabric stash for awhile.  Well, I decided to made my daughter a little outfit for our going away party yesterday, and it was perfect!  I didn't have much of the fabric, so I coordinated it with a brown polka dot fabric that I had plenty of.  I was up at midnight making the tootsie roll bias tape for those shorts- LOL what we do for our kids  Wink.  I started with a pattern, but then improvised to make the outfit the way I wanted.  What do you think?

38  rectangular Paris bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Drea4545 on: April 25, 2006 04:50:40 AM
I made this bag last night.  It is cute, but it has some design flaws that I need to correct in my pattern.  I wanted a very rectangular bag, but with this type of purse, I need the sides to angle a bit so they don't gap open when the flap is shut.  I plan on making the adjustments to the pattern.  Also, flannel is not the best material to line a bag with because it is too soft. If I use flannel again, I will have to reinforce it.

The outer is cotton fabric with fused/sewn interfacing, the lining is flannel with a divided pocket, and the strap is nylon.  When I fix my pattern and sew another bag, I'll post the results.

40  small and bright 2nd purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Drea4545 on: April 14, 2006 05:30:23 PM
This is my 2nd ever handbag.  I'm starting to get the hang of it and I'm having fun designing my patterns.  This is made from cotton fabric and reinforced with lightweight cotton batting.  It is about 7 x 11 with a short strap.  I made it to be a fun daytime purse- for luncheons with the ladies or browsing at the shops  Cheesy
Opinions?  What would you do differently?
