1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Transferring a sketch onto a Nalgene bottle? on: July 13, 2006 05:48:14 AM
Good question!
How about...
decopage with a waterproof sealer?
clear contact paper over the design?
i bet that glass-etch would work too (esp. with the above mentioned stencil)...

Nalgene bottles are tough - I have trouble even keeping my name on there with sharpies, so I'll be following this thread too - i usually just stick to vinyl stickers - i cut 'em up and make collages on my bottles.
I did see some good threads around here about Nalgene cozies too (do a search on bottle cozy)- that might be an avenue to try...
then you COULD use inkjet transfer paper, depending on what you use for the cozy.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Help 'Pimping a Ride', please! on: July 13, 2006 05:36:53 AM
2 great suggestions... Unfortunately I won't have time to get into any papier mache, i leave for pre-fest in a few weeks and there's SO much to do!
And pirates... Mongo'd like pirates!
so, thanks guys...

But really, a bunch of views and only 2 suggestions?
and we can get a zillion pages on scooter pimping?!?!   Huh
(not that i'm knockin' scooter pipming, i'm a mo-mo and scoot girl myself)
but NO ONE ELSE has any good ideas?!?

i am sad Cry
i was countin' on you obi-wans for some stellar suggestions...

I just noticed 'Gleep'... As in big dragon, stong but mostly silent type? Hangs out with a wizard and a Perv?
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Help 'Pimping a Ride', please! on: July 10, 2006 08:30:49 AM

this is my friend Mongo and his 'Gator at the Philadelphia Fok Festival last year...
it is my joy, honor, and duty to see that his is the pimpin-est ride at the 'fest
i need some more ideas for this year... last year it was all done with no pre-planning (although i'm really proud of the flame job which you can't really see).
i'd love any suggestions from all you brilliant cracksters to help pimp it up right...
we can't actually paint the 'gator itself since it's rented, but the frame work is 2x4's and scrap wood, so easy to paint, staple stuff to, etc...
i've got battery pwr'd rice lights and LED's, so it'll be sexy at night, but i need more...
anyone got anything?

i am now totally re-inspired to get out the leather tools!

i just finished making one of these as a 'new job-warming' present for my friend
(i found them in a blow-out bin at Michaels for a buck a piece)
i am lucky enough to have a hot laminator, so i laminated the insert before i put it in.
i tried gluing the inner cup to the outer with gorilla glue but that lasted exactly as long as the first washing.
the top just slid in, no snap or twist, so i am wondering if you might have a warped one?
7  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Dreadlock Swap Signups 6-17 thru 7-1 Send by 7-31 on: July 10, 2006 07:22:11 AM
I haven't started yet because I've been working non-stop at my job. We just lost another person. Sad Lucky for me, I craft really fast without losing crafing quality.. so even if it gets done at the last mininute.. it'll be done really fantastic.

haha.. maybe I give myself too much credit. Anyway.. I'll go get some supplies on my only day off and start working on my stuff!! Cheesy

no sweat, woman - thanks to your bulletins i saw what was going on and figured you might be under some pressure, and that makes me feel a bit better 'cause i am in a similar situation and wearing many hats...
but today is payday and a WHOLE DAY OFF!! YAY!
and so i begin as well!
don't feel pressured - i have dreads, which naturally means i'm slightly more easygoing than the average bear
(the only one we have to watch out for is smoker, swinging the swap whip at our backs...)

(edited to add: hee hee - the thought of a pregnant woman swinging a big whip tickled my visual imagination  - not in a kinky way, mind you - it just seemed really funny in my head Grin )
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Why I hate the Fourth of July! on: July 08, 2006 07:36:11 AM
nope, it's storms, fireworsk, gunshots...
if i tried to stash my supplies elsewhere during a any of the above it would be like moving out!
i have THAT MUCH stuff - i am into EVERYTHING - if you can make it, i will try it.
and i am a disorganized person who saves everything, so it is everywhere.
My apartment is like a little Michaels/Joannes, except there's no rhyme or reason to the aisles, and i'm the only salesperson who knows where anything is...
But it was a good thought. Grin

Hee hee - y'mean i should get a dog trainer to salvage my dress? Wink
but really,
after the third time, i'm thinkin' the dress is trying to tell me something...
it's ok tho, a recon will always be a recon  Grin
like George Carlin says about leftovers: "Put it back, it'll turn up in something!"
i can't afford a good trainer unfortunately - but he's had a full behavioral work-up at University of Pennsylvania's Vet Hosp.
They gave me a packet an inch thick of how to help train him given his abuse issues and needs, but it assumes I have 10 hours a day to devote entirely to my special needs dog - which I'd love, but is not happening.
It's all good - I've had the pup for more than 6 years... I'm used to this.
It's just nice to complain every once in a while

He IS on valium (and was during the 4th)... and we've done xanax! (tried clomicalm once, nothing doing)
Uber-doses - ones that would kick my a$$, and i have years of systematic abuse under my belt Wink
the vets are great about this 'cause they know him and have seen him go through it...
He just adrenalines right through them, like he never had 'em!

if I could just train him to knock over all the stuff that isn't crafty I'd be over it,
but I just came home to more damage (neighborhood kids must have had crackers going)
and the dress I've been working on is done for - for the third time!
(tho' that's my fault for leaving late and forgetting to put in the other room... )
i really love my dog
but i really love my stuff too!

thanks, though... i appreciate all the lovin' input!
