11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Gnome Swap Round 2: CLOSED; Send-outs March 31 on: March 23, 2008 08:52:52 AM
Ahhh school, I hate you! I've pulled 2 all-nighters in the last week, and been up till 5 about the rest of the nights. But I still got some crafting done Smiley

I honestly didn't expect my schoolwork to be this intense, so I've had to cut out one of the crafts I was planning (but I was going to over-craft so it's ok in the end). But I'm really pleased with how the rest of them are going and can't wait to see them done shortly. This week is guaranteed to be less busy than last week so I'm definitely going to be sending on time.

That "gnome" house is awesome!!! Underground/inground housing is actually fairly common, but that's a very beautiful example. I've read stories of taxmen completely missing the house and zoning a property way cheaper than it should be. My retirement plans involve me building and living in a house like that in 5 years. I'll be sure to post pics when I'm settled Wink

Still alive. A couple of things near-done, and attacking my large this coming week. I'm so excited for it.

I'm alive. School has let up its pressure and I am getting down to some serious crafting this coming week. I think I'm about 50% getting everything done.

Uuugh I hate school, it's keeping me from my beloved crafting. I'm still making progress though!

I am half-way through a medium and halfway through two smalls. Excited much? My only challenge now is to balance gnome excitement with harry potter excitement.

I was shocked by how similar my partner's answers were to mine. For a second I thought I was reading my own questionnaire....

I love the owl fabric on that journal - I have the same stuff on the quilt my mom made me!

What sort of stuff can it be used for? It sounds like I could probably use it for *something*.

meh, it should be fine. things don't usually blow on a second firing. if there is a defect with the clay it shows up the first time it sees the inside of a kiln (my friend just lost 2 months of work when one thing shattered in there and broke everything else, poo). you're probably safe so long as your glaze turns out nice.
can't wait to see what you made!

i'm still nowhere near finished. i have only a couple of small things done but i do have most of the supplies i need and lots of plans, that's the hardest/most time consuming part for me anyhow!

Not necessarily Smiley But usually. Depends if the person doing the firing knows what they're doing. It *is* possible to blow stuff up. And as you said, it's possible for someone else to mess up and blow up your piece. This is why I always have my work fired alone.

I started cutting stuff out...slow work but satisfying. SAH, it looks like you're all done but if your piece blows up in the kiln you should be able to salvage the parts and glue them together satisfactorily.
