21  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Clapotis from Knitty on: July 24, 2007 10:32:11 AM
I finished the SSS one!! Finished the knitting and a couple of the ends Sunday night while watching the Egypt specials on Discovery (and lots of Dirty Jobs before that  <3)
Now I just have to take care of the rest of the ends (curse you, six balls of non-felting yarn, one of which had a knot!!) and take pics. Cheesy

Being sick and feeling sorry for myself I finally ordered Artyarns supermerino in colour #135. Hopefully it looks as good in real life as it does on my computer. Can't wait to get started!

Oh you luck dog! I looove Artyarns Supermerino but I can't afford it. Tongue

Sherry- That is so pretty! Did the steaming seem to make it larger? It looks bigger than standard.
I added an increase or two and I'm adding some straight rows because I want a giant one. I have 6skeins so hopefully I calculated correctly. I think I'll be fine from the looks of things so far.
I just love SSS becuase I can afford to make a really big version without breaking the bank! I wanted to make it out of the Malabrigo but it was a little over my budget and they didn't ahve enough in the right colorway anyway. Tongue The smaller one is turning out great though. I wanna work on it SO bad but I'm saving it for the plane ride. Trying to anyway. :/

*Gasp* Bernat bamboo?! This I must see. Smiley How much did it cost?
24  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Swallowtail Shawl IK Fall 06 on: July 12, 2007 10:22:01 PM
Well, I finally got around to starting this tonight! LOL Between working on a couple other projects and then an unfortunate accident, I was knocked back a bit.
But the important part is I started, right?  Grin
I got through the first budding lace part and two repeats of the second budding lace part. So far so good. Smiley
Is anyone else working on this now, maybe?

I think you'll be able to get gauge (maybe with a different needle size though). As long as you get gauge and like the fabric you're good to go, of course. And since it's a bag, a leeetle size difference isn't the end of the world anyway. Smiley
26  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / choosing lace patterns for EZ's Pi Are Squared shawl on: July 11, 2007 07:30:21 PM
I want to make the shawl from Knitting Around and I'm thinking about using a lace pattern rather than plain garter stitch. What guidelines do I need to follow to make the pattern work? ie. What stitch count repeat should my lace pattern be?
27  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: need help with lace pattern on: July 11, 2007 06:25:15 AM
I just read the pattern and it sounds like you're supposed to knit 2 together, YO twice then ssk. I don't think you're supposed to knit one after each of the YOs.

Yep, that looks to be the problem. YO's don't include a knit stitch afterward unless the pattern says so.
The pattern is [k2tog, yo, yo, ssk] but you're doing [k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k1, ssk]

Hope that helps. Smiley

Thanks! Smiley I was truckin' away on it before I got injured. I'd like to have it finished by the end of the month to take on my trip to WI on the 2nd. I'm flying for the first time so it might be a nice snuggly thing to have. I'm not sure if I'll get it done though since I'm working on the Malabrigo on one and I'm itching to start something new. Well, I need to start something new to take on the plane. I figure if I take something that's on nice non-threatening Denise needles I should be ok.
Isn't the Mardi Grey a nifty colorway? I think it'll be great with jeans. My green SSS one is great but it's a mini and most of my clothes are blue. Tongue

Well, I finally got my cast/splint off for good this past Friday and started knitting again today. Hooray! I've been working on my Malabrigo. I'm not sure if I've posted a pic of that one yet but there's one here:

I'm really happy with how my SSS one is coming along too. Haven't gotten back to working on it yet because I wanted to fondle the Malabrigo first but I did finally post some pics of it here:

30  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting one handed? on: May 26, 2007 10:01:33 AM
I broke my left hand in two places this week and it's making me crazy that I have all this time to sit around and I can't knit!!
I know it's a longshot but has anyone found a workaround to allow you to knit in spite of an injured hand? I don't wanna put any undue stress on my healing hand but I have to do something!
I'm right-handed and a thrower if that helps.
