1  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Re: Gardening in the Dead of Winter on: February 04, 2012 05:53:18 PM
Love the greenhouse. Hoop houses are big now here in North Texas. I use low tunnels for my lettuce most of the time but this year has been so mild I've needed anything but a sheet. All the neighbors are getting my extras and loving every minute.

For all you folks interested in making one, go over to Johnny's Selected seeds and see their videos and instructions on how to do it. They sell the pole benders so you can bend your own hoop house and buy all the pipe locally. No expensive shipping that way.

Hope no one minds me promoting them but I really like those folks and they seem dedicated to helping folks grow food.

Here's link that will tell you all about how the ingredients in a cake work together.

I always feel if you know how it works then you can make anything work.

This year I've made way too much sweet potato biscotti and jalapeno jellies. I tried different flavors for the jellies and have decided I really like lemon jalapeno jelly. It's great on chicken. I did have one failure and it was the orange flavor. It didn't set but I'm going to reprocess it after the holidays.

Sounds like a pound cake recipe and they are dense. If you want it lighter, I would cut back on the sugar and add some baking powder. Make sure you cream the sugar and butter well before adding one egg at a time. Then fold in the dry ingredients. It will take a while but don't rush it.
5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Surprising my wife for Christmas: Baby Lock Grace or Singer Costco? on: November 21, 2011 09:50:49 AM
You're a very smart man. Go with your gut and get the Baby Lock and the support. Hopefully the dealer is a good dealer but you can only trust them to be good business people.

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: My First Quilt Questions on: May 31, 2011 04:40:27 AM
I found this definition of a quilt and think it pretty much hits the mark.

A warm bed covering made of padding enclosed between layers of fabric and kept in place by lines of stitching.

Half Square Triangle is shortened to hst in quilting lingo.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Long tutu / tulle skirt waistband q on: May 22, 2011 05:55:12 PM
What if you got some black elastic about an inch wide and made a waistband out of it. Then you could sew it directly to the skirt while you stretch it and it'll gather the tulle for you.

Yep that's why they are getting dull so fast. It's the same principle as your knives. The harder the surface you cut on the faster they get dull.
