1  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / New Look 6377- The SewAlong! on: July 15, 2004 06:03:13 AM
OK folks! Here's the official thread for the sewalong!
Just a few notes:
There is no time limit on this
This thread is for posting questions/advice/tips/finished pics of this project.
If you have a need for the pattern to be adjusted (graded) up or down to your size, let me know- I can send directions on how to do this, or we can work out a way for me to make a graded pattern for you and send it via snail mail.
Have fun with this! We want to see how many different interpritations of this dress, through tastes, style etc. can be shown!
Don't put yourself in the hole. Jo ann's has a TON of uber cheap clearance fabric right now, but don't rush things if money is tight. like I said above, there is no time limit on this!
Drop a note here to say you're in on this, and fill us in on your progress!
Hopefully, if all goes well, we can do this with several different patterns, and develop a database of reviews that have a good number of people's opinions through actual experince.
2  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / simplicity is improving! on: July 12, 2004 01:38:22 PM
simplicity has been expanding their website- and all they've done sofar is wonderful and could be great reference for anyone who sews- beginner on up!
Anyway, I recently submitted to their idea exchange, and my submission was chosen for use- as a thank you, they offered and sent me one free pattern of my choice!
Well the pattern came today, along with a hard copy of this:

(click to see brochure *big red button on the above link*)

I think this could really help nOOb sew-ers, along with some of the other new stuff they've added to the site:)
Just thought I'd make mention of it:)
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Outfit I just finished (UPDATED) on: June 17, 2004 10:06:22 AM

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / buckles on: June 08, 2004 09:59:25 PM
need to find somewhere to get 1" wide buckles simple stuff, but strong and durable... I was going through an online site, but they closed down Sad
I'm actually tired of shopping for them online cos I can't get samples and usually end up with something totally different from what I wanted... Anybody have any suggestions where I could go and find small buckles without going online?
I tried michaels, and I work at jo ann's....

Has anyone made these pants??? I think they look like they'd be uber comfy- I just don't want to waste 3 yards of cotton gauze if they're not....

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Pattern drafting on: April 28, 2004 11:07:39 AM
ok- here I am with this skill pretty much down pat- I draft a TON of my own patterns, mostly because I can never find exactly what I'm looking for in the pattern books, and because my measurements are so far off from those used in commercial patterns they never fit right.

I'm posting this to offer my services to you- craftster members. If there is something you find online or draw up an idea that you want to make but can't find a pattern to utilise, post a pic and description here- I will do my best to draft a pattern and will post the tutorial.

Don't say I never offered YAY!
Think of it as challenging me.
double dog dare if you wish.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / gored skirt patten drafting tutorial on: April 28, 2004 09:56:58 AM
After drafting the lil pleated skirt I made, I decided I'd offer another easy to do skirt pattern.

Cut seven, leave one seam slightly open for your zipper, and enjoy!
