11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Sweeney Todd Knits. on: January 28, 2008 09:24:30 PM
I'd also like to randomly add that Edward Scissorhands uses the same bright-red blood.

I've yet to see Sweeny Todd, but I so desperately want to.
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: For teens: Calorimetry or Ribbon Drop Stitch Scarf? on: December 03, 2007 02:27:16 PM
Funny enough, I happen to own both a calorimetry and a drop stitch ribbon scarf.

I haven't touched the scarf since I cast off. Calorimetry however, I wear whenever the weather hints that it wont kill me to wear a wool hat/headband thing. Also, I love the Calorimetry because it's a loophole to the "No hats EVER!" rule at my school. (On those couple of days in Florida where your ears do not want to be bear outside.)

"I've been involved with band for half my life, and not ONCE have I seen someone crochet on the band bus."
- One of the band chaperons, he got the craft wrong, but it was still a great comment.

"Howd you...what in the...that is too much for my brain to comprehend."
- My friend staring at my knitting (a sock on dpns) in amazement.

I can knit without looking, even hold a conversation with someone, keeping normal eye contact, while knitting on autopilot.
I dunno...for some reason I really like to watch the knitting, and the fabric unfolding ect. I'm all about the process.

17  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Gaia Members, hav u ever wanted to/hav made/make something from Gaia Online? on: August 19, 2007 12:39:21 AM
My calorimetry looks like one of the headscarves on there.

I signed up once a while back and only stayed on five minutes (Me and this guy that-I-kinda-have-a-thing-going-on with showed it to me) not exactly my cup of tea, though.

Doubled-up cascade fixation (or esprit from elann, which is about half the price) sounds like it would work good. Although it's cotton/elastic, not acrylic. (Which actually sounds better to me, but different strokes.)

Perhaps some kind of sweater vest? That way you get something wearable, but won't come in skin contact, which lopi is less than great with.
