1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Who installs shopping carts? on: January 22, 2009 12:43:35 AM
I REALLY hope I'm not duplicating any topics here, but I've been through thread after thread for like an hour and a half trying to figure this out.

Does anyone install shopping carts and get them up and running--and that's it?

I tried to do it myself on my website and it's just *terrible.* Just..bad. I want to be able to upload and change graphics myself, and of course upload my own products. But I can't get the layout right.

The only information I've come across is webhosting, or who does websites, and I've looked into those and they all are just templates. I don't want templates--I just want someone to install the cart and reconfigure the layout. I love ZenCart, I'm just having problems with the technical aspect of how to do things...The classes I took had to do with graphic design, not coding Sad

Can anyone suggest someone who will install carts only, and customize the cart without customizing graphics?

Thank you--I appreciate the help!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Yellow Brick Road Jewelry Box on: April 09, 2008 08:26:08 PM
I didn't make the boxes (I got it Michaels...that place is a candy store!!) but i worked my bum off painting them!! Smiley

You can't really tell but after I painted the boxes yellow I sealed it with glaze mixed with PearlEx. It gives the boxes kind of a rustic, worn look but they also shine a little bit of gold. Just like the Yellow Brick Road!!

The front.

The back view (the other side is plain as well)

I opted to keep the insides natural wood so that if anything is kept inside there is no worries of it sticking to glaze or paint. I did paint and glaze the lips of the boxes, though.

The first thing I did was paint between the "bricks" a darker color than the rest of it so they'd pop out more.

This shot is more for my benefit. Smiley
This is the top of one of the boxes with my mom's Dorothy Tonner Doll standing on them.

I'm quite pleased with how they came out!! I'm not much of a painter and I'm still in craft-shock they came out the way I imagined!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Where to buy add-a-bead jewelry? on: April 09, 2008 09:21:45 AM
Does anyone have a wholesale source (or bulk source) for Add a Bead jewelry? I'm particularly looking for the cuff bracelets with the screw on beads at the end, not the cheaper ones that hook together. I've seen a lot of these sold with lampwork beads as the focal bead, and two silver beads on either side (they're "hugger beads" with plastic on the inside that hugs the cuff so the focal bead doesn't move).

I don't need sterling silver, but the cheapest ones I've found are still expensive! I can't find a wholesale source for the life of me. Do they not exist anymore? Please help. I'm dying to make myself some bracelets but I don't want to pay $7 each for these when I know there has to be a source for them somewhere. (I do have a wholesale license if that helps!)

Thank you so much.

P.S. Here's a photo of what I'm searching for:
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Retro Flapper Button/Pins on: January 28, 2007 12:40:20 AM
I'm so excited about these... I've been drooling over those Flapper buttons ever since I saw them but seeing as my dog just broke her elbow and needs orthopedic surgery, it's going to be a while before I can get them. I do have a button maker (I have four, but I used my 1" for this), though, so I made my own! Well, pins instead of the kind of buttons you buy at Joanne's, but you know what I mean, I hope.

I was inspired by the flapper shirt buttons but also by a couple of photos of vintage handmade flapper face pins I came across.

My sister and I made 4. The sequins is under the mylar layer, but the little bump in the middle is these teeeny tiny rhinestones my sister had in her "Sparkle Stash" of loose rhinestones.

Here's a shot of the back so you know what kind of button I'm talking about. Smiley

ETA: I drew the girls faces in PSP7. I made them vectors so I can change the colors of things without too much trouble if I waqnt to change their eye color, hair color, skin color, etc.
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Just in time for Halloween! Skull and candy bracelets on: September 17, 2006 01:01:25 AM
So, I got slightly obsessed with the candy bracelets. I made about 10 and gave them away to a lot of my friends and family, and kept one for myself of course! I just think the beads are SO adorable! I feel far from humble about it, which is weird since usually I don't gush about my own stuff or pass them out like they're, well, candy. Wink

The skull bracelet was fun to make and turned out a heck of a lot cuter than I thought it would. My mom said it would make a cute choker, which is what I was thinking, but the chain was already on the bracelet and I don't have any more of it, so while a similar one is planned in the future, it's not gonna happen now. Wink

6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Who makes Websites? - Zen Cart questions. on: September 12, 2006 11:15:25 AM
Hi, all! I'm looking to see if anyone uses or makes websites with Zen Cart? I've done my site up with it and it's a mess. I hate the way it looks, and I can't figure it out. I'm an HTML girl, but adding the products is so easy with ZenCart. I can't find any tutorials I like, or any free templates. I wrote Arianne at Aeolidia Design about doing one, because I've seen she's done others, but you could have knocked me over with a feather when she told me her price! $500 for a prefab with no alterations, upwards of $1000 to $2000 for a regular site. Being computer savvy, my heart cannot take this! (Nor can my wallet...I don't even make $1000 in one month with my part time job.) So, I was wondering if anyone sold prefabs or templates cheaper than that? I can generally find my way around enough to change graphics and such, but I want a very simple site.

I REALLY like this site: http://www.mediaessence.com/gift-cards-c-32.html
It's extremely simple, which is what I want.

I thought I'd end up paying $500 for a site, but not a prefab. As gorgeous as they are, Aeolidia Designs is just WAY out of my budget. Especially since I'm not even bringing in much more than $20 or $30 a month with my etsy shop or button sales.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where to buy templates or get web help? I'm trying to steer clear of the businessy ones that show up when you type your search into google...

Thanks! Smiley
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / In Celebration of Fall... A Maple Leaf Necklace on: September 09, 2006 03:58:20 PM
I made myself a Maple Leaf necklace I think is just gorgeous. Now I just need to find a shirt to go with it!
I made some earrings and I'm thinking if I found some orange glass beads I could make a pair to match it.

The front:

The back (which my mother likes better because of the center vein, so I guess you could say it's reversible):

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Pirate and Lava Necklace on: July 31, 2006 07:13:20 PM

This necklace is for my sister's coworkers birthday on the 13th. I'm so excited to give it to her! She thought the skull charm was really nifty last time she came over so I was determined to make her something with it, and here's what came out!

The chain is sterling silver and the beads are made of genuine lava.
10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / Wizard of Oz Toto Scrapbook Pages Completed! on: July 31, 2006 06:57:13 PM
I finally completed the Toto scrapbook pages I have been working on! This was quite a feat for me since it was my first scrapbook page, plus I had to make it 17 times! (My mom's Wizard of Oz group did a scrapbook swap...Don't ask how I got involved in actually making them instead of her! lol!)

The little emerald city is kept shut by a thread wrapped around the shoe button (I'm thinking of making buttons or earrings in that style because they're so cute!)

Underneath is a little photo of Toto, the little stuffed dog their group passes around. The list is of all the places Toto has "been."

Here is a quick snapshot of all the pages (sorry it's a bit blurry...I'd have retaken it but they're all packed up to be mailed out now)
