1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Felted flowers wreath on: November 05, 2010 09:52:17 PM
I saw a project that inspired me at Creative Passage http://ellenscreativepassage.blogspot.com/2010/11/vote-for-meplease.html and I made some of the felted sweater flowers from two sweaters I got at Goodwill today.  I quickly came home and felted them Smiley  I put them all over an old picture frame.  I'm going to hang it with some wide red ribbon for Christmas, but I will probably use some other color and hang it permanently.  I have a second frame but I think I want to put something else that matches in color all over it or maybe some large burlap ribbon roses.  The possibilities....

The finished frame

Terrible close up...and the color looks weird

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Fabric scrap wreath on: November 03, 2010 05:23:27 AM

This is a fabric scrap wreath that I put together last night for a fall decoration.  I'm not at all into "country" decor but this seemed "fall like" and not just "country".  I saw the tutorial at this website http://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/11/fabric-wreath.html and I thought I would give it a try.  Mine looks a little more ragged than the tutorial, but I still like it.  I do think I may put a few more fabric strips in to make it fuller, but I was sooo tired of cutting fabric  Grin

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Recycle an old scarf on: October 30, 2010 08:05:14 PM
I have a few scarves that I made a few years ago that are a little shorter than I like.  I just sewed the ends up to wrap around my neck twice for a cowl.  I love it.  I know this isn't a new idea but I sure like it Smiley

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / I'm waaaay behind on this one.....here's my calorimetry on: October 14, 2007 09:03:16 PM
My daughter saw the calorimetry pattern on knitty when I was browsing and she had to have this.  So she picked out the yarn and I finished the thing in one day.  Now, I didn't get much else done, but it was worth it....  I love the way this yarn worked up too.  It's the vanna's choice by lionbrand.  I wanted to do it in wool, but she liked this colorway.  I figured it would wash up good and since I'm sure it will need it often.  She hasn't taken it off!!

In progress

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / black and white superlong scarf on: October 26, 2006 09:42:28 PM
I was inspired by the scarf in this thread... https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=108923.0 (thanks for the inspiration...love the scarf)

...so I made my own version of it.  Basically it's the same pattern stitch, but I used a skinny yarn and made the thing 10 ft long.  You have to wrap it around the neck 2 or 3 times.  I made it for a friend who is MUCH taller so she won't have to go as crazy wrapping, but it's a fun scarf!  I used some random thin microfiber yarn from hobby lobby.  It's pretty thin and very smooth and soft which is what I was looking for.  I liked the original one too so I think I am going to make myself a thicker one.

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Delicate crystal pendant necklace on: October 15, 2006 09:47:24 PM
I made this over the weekend while I was at my cabin having some much needed "alone" time.  It turned out exactly like I wanted.

I also made this one but the picture doesn't do it justice.  It's just not the right length for me...I have to lengthen it with a very long delica bead strand so I can wrap it around my neck.
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Brown and pink long necklace on: October 06, 2006 08:06:25 AM
It's been a while since I have posted anything.  I found a version of this necklace in a catalog that was $68.00 and I figured I could make my own copy of it.  I used twisted brown thread, I think it was embroidery floss, but it was different.  I was looking for thin silk cord but couldn't find it, so I used what I had on hand.  I had most of these beads randomly so it hardly cost me anything.  I really love it and it's different.

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / randomly beaded necklace and bracelet on: March 09, 2006 11:27:30 AM
Just some glass and crystal beads of various sizes....I thought it was kind of different and would go with almost anything.  I used mostly pinks and greens.  I think I will try another one with purples and blues..........

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / first lariat..yippee! on: March 04, 2006 12:14:39 PM
I know this is pretty simple for those of you who have been beading for a while...but I have always wanted a lariat and now I have one...lol.........

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / 1st pst....remade vintage crystal necklace on: February 19, 2006 09:35:06 AM
New to jewelry....I usually knit/crochet.  Anyway, my mom gave me this broken crystal necklace that was my great grandmothers...at least 90 years old.  My whole life it was broken and in a baggie..lol.  I decided to restring it...similar to the original style...since it was broken...most of the crystals were off the string...this is what I came up with.  I also got some similar crystals to make the bracelet.  I'm still not done with it....I think I want it a couple of inches longer...so I left it open...I will figure something out soon.  The picture does not do it justice....these crystals are like nothing I have ever seen!  Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.........
