1611  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: My wife is creeped out by me chrocheting....... on: February 22, 2006 03:51:33 PM
I cannot wait to see an original project made by a mathematician.

First, i want to say that my DH is doing a PhD in a computational sciences & statistics program and I CANNOT get him convinced to RESTART crocheting (yes, he used to--he was taught in school growing up). I even sent him a site about crocheting using fibonacci numbers and everything. (http://www.planetshoup.com/easy/tips/math.shtml)

WHY oh WHY did you post that? I hate math, I'm terrible at it! And I of couse, HAD to click the link. . .  Huh Huh Huh

Now I'm confused.
1612  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: spinning from pet hair? on: February 22, 2006 03:23:41 PM
I considered dog hair, but both of mine are short hairs. As are my cats Sad

1613  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / spinning from pet hair? on: February 21, 2006 09:44:57 PM
I wanted to start spinning, and I thought it would be great to make stuff using the hair that falls out when I groom my horses. I know it would probably not be good for clothing, but I was thinking of making a small horse toy for my mom from her mare's hair.

I've seen somewhere the idea, but I don't have any links or anything. . . the idea just struck me this evening.

So, would it be possible? Would it be a royal pain in the tail (pardon the pun. . .)?
1614  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: crochet baby hats made with leftover yarn on: February 20, 2006 05:39:25 PM
Yep, I want that pattern, too! It's awesome!

I have tons of yarn, and lots of ambition. .And those would be great for Christmas!
1615  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Re: 2/1/06 - Craftster State of the Union on: February 18, 2006 03:39:33 PM
There's already a misc. board, so why not just add an Off-Topic section? Use it to get to know your fellow craftsters and discuss things that matter (such as : You didn't CLAP for BUSH??! Why do you HATE Amerika?!?!!!one!!11!)  Cheesy

Seriously. Make it a place that is modded only for pr0n, personal/group attacks and copywrited material. One one board I use, there's a section for all the stuff like that, and it has it's own set of Mods to watch it. It's got a lot of members, so that may be why Wink
1616  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: pastafarianism swap on: February 15, 2006 05:38:03 PM
That would be soooo cool. . .I have ideas, but sadly, I don't know how to do any of them! Sad
1617  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: risqu cat toy on: February 15, 2006 04:42:49 PM
I'm sorry for the necro, but I had to reply. I make cat toys from plastic bags by tying a bag into as big a knot as possible ( keep making knots till you run out of plastic) then putting it into another bag and repeating. they love it, and never had a problem with it getting too damaged.
1618  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Crafty But Stupid: YOUR CRAFT RELATED INJURIES HERE! on: February 15, 2006 01:44:17 PM
I play wargames, and in preppeing minis, I sometimes have to trim off some of the extra metal "flash". Remember, when using a VERY sharp Xacto knife always 1) work away from your body (including fingers) and 2) keep a firm hold on it.

I've cut fingers, and dropped the knife into (yes INTO ) my thigh.

Not to mention all the times I've stabbed myself sewing. . . but that's just minor.
1619  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Lite Brite coffee table! on: February 15, 2006 12:38:00 AM
This is awesome! Such a great reminder of childhood  Grin

I'm going to have to make it. My DH suggested adding a drawer for extra pegs. . . He's so smart. . I hadn't thought about that!
