11  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: What did I do wrong with my cast iron pan? on: October 12, 2009 11:57:04 AM
Never use soap on a cast-iron pan.

I like to start after the oven seasoning, using the pan for high-fat stuff, like browning hamburger. After I've done that a few times, I start with bacon and sausage. Seems to work great. I've got a pan almost as dark as the one my MIL has - her grandmother used it.

I don't know how much extra room you'd need, tbh. I do't have much experience with crocheted gloves because I prefer to knit them, but IIRC, there is essentially 2 stitches between fingers ( the sides of the fingers if nothing else) that should be plenty of extra room.

All I can suggest is try with some cheap yarn and a pattern and see if you need the extra room. Like a muslin mock-up in sewing.

Seems to me, that if you were to take a regular glove pattern, then rather than make 4 fingers + thumb, you did 2 + 1, it would work. Just find one of a gauge that works for you.

You can also buy a spray paint for horses. Google's failing me right now, of course.

When I had my pug as a "snack" for halloween, I used human brush-in dye. It was on her throat, and hard for her to get to.
15  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Onigiri - YUMM!! on: September 27, 2009 10:51:46 PM
I made some with of all things, Jasmine (long grain) rice. Worked very well. I made them in balls rather than the triangles though.

sushiluvzombie, it is INCREDIBLY easy. You rinse the rice well, cook it, let it cool so you can touch it, then (lazy way) use cling wrap in a small coffee cup. Use enough wrap to sit in the cup and that you can grab, dump in some rice (experiment to get the size you want) then squish into a ball. plus, you can leave 'em wrapped for a later meal, or reuse the wrap and chow down right away (like I do Shocked)

That would be great for glass.

And even reading the instructions, sometimes we mess it up. Don't ask the number of patters I've screwed up.
17  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: TWO-Hour Sweater! on: September 23, 2009 12:04:31 AM
Well, I messed it up Cheesy My needles were too small (figures, I misred the blasted pattern). I'm making another now on bigger than called for needles, and 3 strands RHSS. I liked the colors Smiley
18  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Isnt my new computer SWEET?! on: September 22, 2009 10:45:21 PM
I'd cut the rod (assuming it's hollow) and use it as a clock base Cheesy
19  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: roxycraft! :( on: September 14, 2009 01:37:04 AM
Glad it's getting fixed. I haven't (yet!!) gotten anything through Roxy, I do plan to. *sigh* I just need time. And Money. And time. Smiley

I'm really surprised. I've never heard anything bad about Roxy before.
