1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Painted sandals on: July 12, 2013 06:32:05 PM
I don't know if anyone else has this trouble, but every year when its time to buy sandals I can never find any I can actually walk in the women's section of the store is always filled with flip flops that are much better suited to beach wear than going a few miles with your dog.Wink Seriously I almost dropped about 100$ because women's walking sandals seemed to be such a rarity. For some reason cheap walking sandals only exist in the men's section, so I decided to turn men's sandals into women's sandals with some purple tulip fabric paint.

Here is what they looked like pre-paint

and post paint and a coat of pledge floor wax

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Bronze belt on: April 03, 2012 04:49:51 PM
Does anyone have any ideas how I might go about making this belt?

I hope this is the correct place to put my question, it seemed to me to be more of a piece of jewelry rather than a functioning belt.  Wink
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Inspired idea? ...or not? on: June 05, 2011 05:26:54 PM
I have always hated the idea of a at-home sweatshop that turns out the same item over and over, it also doesn't look great in a photo when everyones wearing the same dress. So  my post-alchemy solution to this is a "design it yourself" feature on my etsy. I would love everyones opinion on my solution to this problem, I'm not sure if its very professional, or if people would even like that option, but it does save me time in not having to make tons of dresses for prototypes that I don't need (and in random sizes)....I dunno what day you?

here. is the listing in question. Huh

4  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / Craft-a-long board under CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND...? on: March 15, 2011 03:36:56 PM
Could craftster have a board under CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL, where we could all get together and craft for a single cause? I don't think you are allowed to say a specific charity without asking them, but you could cay craft-a-long for relief efforts in such and such place in general, or for such and such shelter exc.

For instance there is a whole list of charities to help Japan http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_newsroom/20110311/wl_yblog_newsroom/japan-earthquake-and-tsunami-how-to-help  Sad

10  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / No fabric at Wal-mart? on: December 05, 2006 12:20:30 PM
I?m making http://www.simplicity.com/assets/4219/4219.jpg shirt for my dad for x-mas to wear with his kilt and I bought this brown broadcloth from walmart last week but I didn't buy enough so I ended up going back there today and they are all out! I asked the lady that was doing the cutting and she said that walmart isn't going to have a fabric section anymore. I have been to 3 stores looking for something so simple already. Ahhh I hate walmart now I'm going to have to do all the cutting out again just for 2 in!!!
