15491  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Big boring button up dress to cute and cozy button down dress on: February 02, 2012 12:37:54 PM
The detailed stitching on the belt really made this dress go from "meh" to "wow"!

You have a terrific figure, so showing it off with a belt was a good move---highlighting a tiny waist!

The whole look is modern and fresh...thanks for sharing your re-do!

awww CLM...it does almost seem futile...I found 22 pairs of jeans in my candle closet!!!  I know I was saving them for a quilt, but the thought of cutting them all up just depressed me so I shoved them back in... Sad

I want to stay positive and make happy fun things, not stuff because I saved too much junk in my past! Cheesy

I am pretending that I have to move in three months to a tiny condo on the beach...what crafting stuff would I take? Cheesy  It makes it a lot easier to let go! Cheesy

wow is right...plus, denim is a bear to sew...I am sorry your grandma passed before she was able to finish her quilts...I think that is one of my biggest fears...so I am motivated to finish all of my wips before starting any new quilts...I am sure my nephews would just trash all of the unfinished ones ! Sad

Now that is a lovely surprise!!!  Of course, it means more destashing...*sigh*...I think we are all destined to be stuck in this thread forever...

oh--I see--you had already put on the pieces!  I thought you were just figuring out how to do it...I can "see" what you mean now...if you had enough paper to match up the prints, it might not be seen at all...

I think these small scale houses can be as perfect or imperfect as you want!  Small, nice details are part of why I love this craftalong...I can't wait to see your progress shots!

real house have wallpaper seams...Cheesy  maybe you could cut your paper like real rolls of wallpaper (smaller, of course!)...I think it would be fine...could you use other trims like ric rac or even bias tape?  Those would be interesting!

I did use koolaid because when I got to the store that I had called in advance and asked if they carried it, (they said yes!), no one could find it...grrrrrr...so before I order online, I wanted to try it out...I cut the recipe in half so 8 packs of lemonade koolaid was 1/4 cup...it filled up a medium mason jar...enough to test for many washes! Cheesy

I just read through every single page!

The tip about putting rubber bands on your wrist and removing them was genius!  But, then I thought it would be weird wearing them at work...then I remembered that someone on here made a bracelet that had beads on it that she moved from one side to the other...does anyone remember seeing that bracelet at all?  I can't find it!  I am sure it is simple enough to do something similar...eight beads, some sort of band... Cheesy
