15161  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Healthy Eats-Along 2012 on: February 17, 2012 12:45:26 PM
Quinoa has become my favorite grain ever...Grin  I will have to try the quiches, only I probably will not put ham in mine..maybe shitake mushrooms instead!

I do not use gelatin in my crockpot yogurt...I don't mind it a bit runny, especially in summer...I use it a lot to make fruit smoothies...cheesecloth works really well, and it also gets firmer as it gets "older"...I usually use the old yogurt to start the new yogurt...I think my original yogurt starter is about two or three years old...

edelc--do you like tamales?  It is made with corn flour and they are a lot easier to make than tortillas...I use a corn/bean/rice mix for the inside, but you can use chicken or beef as well...

I definitely am going to get cauliflower this weekend...those poppers look like the perfect snack for my need of crunchy salty snacks!

I have been absent from my favorite thread! I got paranoid that I was leaving people out of the challenges so I went back and checked again--all 162 pages of January!!!  I now have a good list and will pop it into the random generator this weekend...I went out and got a few more prizes and some prizes are ordered and will get here in 3-5 days! YAY!

I love it when dreadfullydivine posts because it is like a mini catch-up for me!  So, double what she said...I have been loving the February projects and hope to catch up Sunday!

In the meantime, I am so impressed with the Eagle Scout quilt!  I love quilts that have such a good memory attached..and, I concur: rottenlittleboys, your boy turned out not so rotten! Grin

Love the shrug!!!!  It has nice sleeves and is better fitted than a lot I have seen...beautiful work!

I know what a sprocket pillow is now...I definitely want some of those!

k-star--love the tunic--the sleeves are funky!

and, the fairy tale drawings are fantastic!!  I think the freckles and the mismatched ears give such personailty to your drawings! Whoever is closest slap her head for saying her drawings are getting worst!!!!  You are developing a style that is adorable!!

kim-cheeeeeeee!!  I love the stuff...I learned to make it when I was in college from my Mom...I loved stinking up my dorm room, but everyone came to see me to pig out on it!  I have a pickle press as well, but I use an upside down plate and a large stone since I make huge batches...it keeps so well...what kind of bacteria could live in that heat and stink? Grin  mmmm kim-chee soup sounds like a great thing to make this weekend!

I have made tons of stuff but my camera software is not cooperating...first my camera went bad, now the software...

Carry on...and be sure to check out the search for another Master Crafter!  The loot is to die for!!  I did it the first year and got a Brother Embroidery Sewing Machine, every thread color in the world, stabilizers, software, patterns...it changed my crafting forever!

I will post a link in a second...here ya go!! DO IT!!!

15163  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Milky Jello Jigglers - My ode to Jell-O week on: February 17, 2012 12:02:37 PM
They look fun!

I personally can't stand the feel of jello in my mouth...but the idea of using milk sounds intriguing...and I love how solid they look...what do they taste like?

When I was a kid, my dad mixed jello with melted ice cream and re-froze it into a mold...he added fruit cocktail on paydays! I am sure your kids will also have some fond food memories...

Happy Jello Week!

uhm...I think maybe the apples do not fall far from the tree? Grin

or else, we are just so glad it is not us (I love Hoarders because I know I am not THAT bad... yet)...

I can't wait until my tin gets a new home...I hate the wait the worst!
15165  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 12 Quilt Projects in 2012 Along on: February 17, 2012 11:48:36 AM
Mare and I are quilting twins... Grin

I like the cutting part the best...sewing next...I don't even mind the quilting....I just really really hate the putting together...I never have fabric for the backs because I never know what size I will end up with...so, lot of quilt tops lay around until I get my butt to buy the backs...I need a quilter who is OPPOSITE of me... ha ha
15166  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: Let's talk balls on: February 17, 2012 08:51:27 AM
Batgirl made me three a little larger than tennis balls...I use them mostly with towels...dryer sheets tend to make towels less absorbent so I don't use them for towels, but I use the balls mostly to soften them...I also think they keep the towels from wrapping themselves around each other since I personally think they do dry faster...the balls must also absorb some of the moisture because I have used them afterwards to freshen up t-shirts that I forgot to take out and then they got wrinkly...she made me a red, orange and purple one...when not in use, they sit in my laundry room in a basket looking pretty!

(boy, this is a hard topic to discuss without feeling like I need to smoke a cigarette... Cheesy)...but it is a clean topic...(boo hiss)

15167  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 12 Quilt Projects in 2012 Along on: February 17, 2012 08:26:58 AM
I have seen those!  I have a neutral comforter (boring beige!)...a bedrunner would make things more colorful and you could switch them out...plus give the cats a place to hang out without dirtying up the comforter!

Do you know how wide they are?  They look to be about 3 feet?  A matching pillow would make it a perfect set!

Oh, please, make one to share and inspire me! Grin
