14601  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 12 Quilt Projects in 2012 Along on: July 16, 2012 06:17:00 AM
I collected all of these blue and white fabrics to make a quilt that looks like tiles...I will have way too many scraps so that last idea is excellent to use them up!

I think using extra jars to make placemats would be fun!  We should start an ideas thread for leftover blocks!  I was in a block swap and had many left over...I was thinking about making totes with them...any other ideas?

Thanks for posting some wonderful links to quilts you want to make!

I really love the last one, in all blues!

Your quilt turned out nice and huge!  The jar quilts always fascinate me.

I doubt if most men would wear those shoes...but I think as a musician, he gets away with wearing weird stuff on stage...including his pair of jeans that I keep patching together and embroidering! Cheesy

Since he plays reggae, I think it fits the mood of the music! Cheesy

He wants to do another pair in a Pink Floyd theme...I just have to get some more paint markers...they sure do not go very far...I am going to try the technique where you add fabric medium to plain old acrylic paint

Your dress turned out beautiful!  The fabric layout really highlighted the print perfectly!

WOW--and I love the length you picked...perfect for work or an evening out...

wonderful job...now I am going to have to check out the tutorial...I love fast and easy clothing....

14606  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / A Drummer should wear fun shoes! on: July 15, 2012 11:12:26 AM
My hubby bought these black, plain converse shoes to wear while playing drums at formal events...he now plays at fun places, so it was time to revamp his boring black shoes! I remember seeing some pretty cool painted ones on Craftster, so I started looking to see how it was done...

I used fabric paint markers and just started doodling....one thing led to another and the next thing you know, I had painted all four sides....now he wants to do one of his other pairs and I will do the other...what a fun way and inexpensive way to get "new" shoes!

Thanks for looking! And, thanks for all of you who inspired and taught me how to do it!

The yarn is wonderful!

I have always loved jeans bags...yours turned out nicely!

What cute peg heroes!  I can't imagine painting so tiny!

Here is a pic of my hubby's drumming shoes that I spruced up...they were black and boring and he never wore them...now he wants me to do his other two pairs! Cheesy  Actually, he wants to do one pair himself...so yeah, painting shoes can be addicting! Cheesy

It is only one pair, but all sides are done with a different pattern:

14608  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Pimento Cheese on: July 15, 2012 10:51:57 AM
I have made this recipe twice now!  It is so easy!

We were invited to an impromptu get together with friends tonight...what to make, what to make...pimento cheese!  I used some extra hot peppers that MissingWillow had given to me...whoa! It should go great with the Puerto Rican dinner that my friend is preparing!

Nothing fancy, but always delicious!  Thanks for the recipe!

What cute badges!

Mel--I am sure your new baby needs your attention a lot!

My niece had a baby boy on July 4th!  It was her first and she is a bit overwhelmed so we all have been trying to help her and her hubby with what we can...he weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz.  She weighs 98 pounds...so, yeah! Cheesy

I am going to make a bunch more burping cloths because he is a big eater! Cheesy
