14584  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help with Choosing Fabrics on: August 06, 2012 11:57:35 AM
I agree--there is plenty of pattern in the set already...fabrics that read solid would be my choice...I would pick the cream to replace the white...the bark looking fabric reads solid to me and it is brown already, so I would go with the pale turquoise and the coral/orange color as the "solids"...I would not use real solids except for maybe the cream background...I prefer textured or all over patterned solids...

It is going to be lovely...

If you flip the pictures so that the white is on top of the purple, the stitches make more sense...

It actually looks like treble stitches to me...like 7 trebles, chain 4, etc.

following pattern, 5 rows of purple, 1 row of white, 1 row of purple, 5 rows of white, 1 row of purple, 1 row of white, repeat

and, so as not to have to weave in all of the color changes, I am guessing that at the beginning and end of each row, you cut a 4-5 inch length for a fringe...

It looks like a nice and easy pattern...

Sorry about your loss...maybe your children would like a totally different pattern to use. When they grow older, they will want to remember her and use the afghans as she intended.

I can relate! Cheesy

I am a "make everything look old and dingy" kind of crafter as well! I was very tempted to bring out my distress inks but decided to go in a happier direction!

It is so nice to just be able to do the houses the way we want and not what the kiddies want! Cheesy

I love your attic wallpaper...the house is going to be epic...I am going to pull mine off the shelf and get back to it after gardening/canning season is over...I hate clearing off the kitchen table when I am working on my house!

Love the idea of combining parts of two houses...now I need to see if I have a Michael's coupon waiting for me in my emails!
