Your stories are inspiring and heartwarming...I find that creating things with our hands binds us as human beings...no matter what our race, religion, country of origin, sex, or sexual preference, we have the joy of creating in common...crafting through bad times and good...we also have that in common in this group...

carolmb...I love block 3 that you made for sloth--orange and yellow together...the background fabric is so colorful and bright!

I posted the blocks I made for sloth in my gallery. Cheesy

mini mum--you come from a very talented family...I think people forget that men used to do a lot of sewing and crafts out of necessity...how nice for you to have these treasured memories...

Hey--if you guys post new pics in your gallery, could you mention it here so that it shows up in the "recent replies"?

I am afraid I am going to miss some pictures or else keep seeing the same ones...

Thanks!

It looks like Bernat Mosaic--colorway: optimistic?

I actually like it better than Noro for some things as it is less stiff...

I think she is assuming that you are using a magic ring, 6 sc into the ring, then each round, follow the directions:

round 1: 2 sc in one loop, sc, 2 sc in next loop, sc, etc.
round 2:  2 sc in each loop, 2 sc, 2 sc in each loop
keep increasing
rounds 8,9,10: sc in each loop

you are increasing each round...then decreasing...

If that doesn't help, I would be happy to translate the rest of the pattern for you... Cheesy

aww--she will love it!  I like that it has two sides!  She can choose which side depending on her mood (yeah--she is turning into a teenager soon... Cheesy)...

Nice that you made a change purse to match!

Did you see how I organized my fabrics? I have not done it for any new fabrics, but I plan on doing it this weekend so as to NEVER having to spend 4 days doing it again! Cheesy

anything greater than 1/2 yard--each bin is labeled and then I did a rolodex card with a swatch and the corresponding bin

Larger fabrics and overflow squashed in big bins

fat quaters are in shoe box bins by color

Batting rolled up against one wall...I have low loft and medium loft by the roll...

I also then have four bins for scraps, neatly cut into squares--and one bin for strips...

So glad I finally got some order in that room! Cheesy

That is a great tip!  I know when I am crocheting or knitting a shawl, I start placing markers every 50 stitches or so...to help me keep in pattern and to see how much I have done...I also got into the habit of placing a needle marker on each project so I don't forget what size I was using--especially with blankets that you can use any size needle!

I have about six crochet afghans in my WIPS...I tend to get bored with big projects so I have to do them a little at a time...and I do them if I am catching up on missed TV shows!

I used to work in the prison system...a lot of guys crocheted to take up the time...they were only allowed plastic hooks or else they made hooks using paperclips...one of the guys on death row made hundreds of amigurumi animals that were perfect and tiny. Now there are both sewing and crocheting programs in most prisons...a lot of the stuff they make are donated to shelters or causes.

I got plastic bins.  I printed out each person and then each pattern...yeah--a bit of organization is required in this swap, but my sewing method is messy and chaotic as usual! Cheesy
