13531  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Mystery Quilt for Sick Child on: November 12, 2012 09:27:01 AM
I have too many quilt tops to get done before I can do anymore swaps or craftalongs...maybe after the new year! Cheesy
13532  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Purple Color Affection Shawl on: November 12, 2012 07:47:45 AM
I saw two versions of this shawl made up at our LYS...it is a lovely shawl!  They were taking about how great your shawl turned out, indigo_roses...I knew exactly who they were talking about as they kept mention your three purples! Cheesy

sera--love graphic patterns!  The black is put nicely to use!  It gives the quilt movement!

melly--awww--what a cute print!  I love that you can use either side since both are fun and interesting!
13534  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: HO HO HO (Holiday Object x 3) Swap! CLOSED. Sendouts Dec. 3 on: November 12, 2012 07:35:58 AM
I sure could use some Holiday cheer!  This has not been a great month for me and my family!

Crafting has kept me sane and I have had so much fun searching for goodies for my partner!  I think I will be on time and maybe even early this swap--oh my, that never happens! Cheesy
13535  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Quilt Block Swap - Round 2 Gallery on: November 12, 2012 07:30:26 AM
I really like the monkey fabric you used, Mare!

I finished Mare's wonky blocks and will post pics tonight...

I am shipping out everyone's except pearliepie and mare tomorrow...my room is getting too cluttered to keep them!
13536  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Crocheters VS Knitters Swap 2012 (SIGN UP SEPT 29- OCT 14: SEND OUT NOV 14) on: November 12, 2012 06:35:39 AM
Let's remember all of our vets today...my father fought in WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, and Desert Storm. Like many brave men and women, he will be remembered...

I had a hard time finding one little thing but I did!  Taking pictures and shipping on send out day...things never go as I plan! Cheesy
13537  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: "Sew invisibly" ? on: November 12, 2012 06:15:38 AM
The shantung is going to be beautiful!  The fabric is stiff enough to make those lovely bows!  The only problem that I see in using invisible thread is that it is a stiff thread..shantung  generally has a pronounced weave and shine...any shine on fabric shows every stitch clearly..however, the instructions show that the stitching will be on the fold so it should be easily hidden...I would test it on a scrap to see if you mind the small indentations that the stitches will create.  I say do it!  Each item you sew will be a learning experience...even mistakes teach...and I bet no one will even notice because the the outfit usually shows off a lovely fabric...Fit is probably more important than a few stitches showing! Cheesy

I would highly recommend the Vogue Sewing Book...it is a basic guide but it is also for people who want to do fine tailoring and sewing...
13538  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Mystery Quilt for Sick Child on: November 12, 2012 06:06:39 AM
ditto--I probably won't do this pattern again...it was not really that special or interesting at all...I actually liked the beginner one better...I probably have enough fabric to do it, but will probably do something else... I just thought it would be more of a delightful surprise instead of just rectangles...at least it was for a good cause...

I bought extra fabric thinking I would do both, so I have a lot left over! Cheesy

What size hook did you use?  Did you single crochet?  I bet it weighs a ton! Cheesy
