oh that is terrible...it is one of my pet peeves as well....I unravel the skein until I find the correct place...and then you have to join the cut off piece later if you run out of yarn!!! grrrrrrrrrrrr....

13244  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: 13 Quilt Projects in 2013 QuiltAlong on: January 11, 2013 01:32:53 PM
danynn--terrific quilt!  You can see all the work you put into it!  I bet you are glad it is done...now you need another three year project! Cheesy

I press my seams to the side, but I am pretty careful that each row is opposite so that the seams nest....if I am doing blocks for a swap, I tend to press seams open since I have no idea how the person is planning on putting them together...as long as you don't have to quilt on any bumps, I think either way is fine, but to one side seems stronger to me and takes less time...the seams can't split as easily...

I generally make lap quilts to fit a wheelchair or someone sitting in a chair...as long as it goes from about under the chest down to the feet and covers side to side without falling into the wheels of the chair, it is a lap quilt to me!
13245  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: It's time to meet the Muppet quilt! on: January 11, 2013 01:28:02 PM
You should be proud for sticking to it over the last few years!  It looks terrific...love all of the textures...I know it was a lot of work hand piecing, but the characters turned out great!!

Now you can move on to something else...and I bet it will be even more challenging! Cheesy
13246  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 50 Projects 2013--You Know You Can Do It! Join here and post your lists ! on: January 11, 2013 12:46:26 PM
No rules in this craftalong...it is your list...you can do your list however you like, or no list and just post finished projects and count them as you go!

We are all chatty here and like to see all sorts of projects...some blow us away and others, like my making boring curtains for my laundry room, are all welcome! Cheesy  It is whatever you craft or do yourself...I was going to exclude cooking, but for some people, cooking is not an everyday thing or it is indeed a special skill to learn, so making jams, bread, candy, etc. is in as well...

Reading 100 posts for this craftalong is NOT a project... Grin

My little niece is going to love it!  I also plan on giving her a tutu that she has wanted forever!  I am going to be the favorite aunt! Cheesy
13249  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 13 in 2013 Hat-a-Long on: January 11, 2013 05:45:55 AM
I love dark colors, but it can be troublesome when crocheting or knitting.  I think I might invest in a lighted crochet hook.  My girlfriend has several and swears by them.

I think I will spend my lunch hour hunting for patterns... Cheesy

I am obsessed with the yarn items in movies and tv shows...but only if I like the show..like the afghans in True Blood or the scarves in Dr. Who...Cheesy

I think when you knit or crochet, you notice those things more...

Silvermoon...yeah, we'll count your WIP! Cheesy

waggonswest--ha ha you might be able to find crocodile in the US but I doubt if you can find kangeroo! Cheesy  Maybe you could make some meals substituting chicken or pork? Cheesy

ED--I forgot about that spray!!!  I have a huge can of artist fixative spray that gives a nice shine after it dries...
