congrats rantyhippie!  You are going to love making her things, once you get a spare moment ...(in about 18 years...) lol.  She is precious!

wow  Lana is a button superhero!  How nice that she is using her powers for good...and charities! Cheesy

CLM--loving all of the crochet foods...but, showing them in that awesome picnic basket...wow....I think your mission has become to make ALL THE FOODS!  lol...keep on!

bunny--the steampunk jewelry is lovely!  I know some lucky people will be vying for those in our Sweat Shop Swap!

I have been working on multiple projects but none really completed...but I did manage to make a Japanese knot bag for that swap:

I am guessing now that we are almost at the end of June, that a lot of people have...surpassed 50 projects? ha ha ha

Have a great summer...crafting or otherwise!

Sorry I am late posting my sample!  I will be offering Japanese knot bags made from various prints...they are reversible and care great for carrying around crochet or knit projects, embroidery, etc. Also, handy for all sorts of other storage needs.

This is one of the bags...one side is a fun print and the other is a more classic mini check.  All of them will be done this way so you can have a choice of which side you feel is best.

Here it is flat...about the size of a large dinner plate.

Now the difficult task of picking things I would would love!

I swear, UTM...Lana brings tears to my eyes when I read about her...she is someone I remember fondly when it seems everyone is dissing kids these days...I am lucky to be in the company of so many bright and talented young people that lift my spirits daily!!  What a great story on Lana...best recycle- thing- get- it -out -of -my -garage decision I ever made! ha ha ha

CLM--those rules are fantastic!  I am loving all of your crochet crafts!

bunny--those aprons are fantastic!  I am so stealing your idea of using an embroidery on an apron...I have received from fabulous things in swaps that I need to make something from...beautiful prints from sheepblue and edelc, included!

ok...a few late pics...

Here are the soap savers I sent to an old friend and former mod, sapphiremoon...she is getting married and she and her hubby are super getting ready...so excited....the back story is, long, long time ago, I was looking for some white and off white fabrics for a project...she said she had some to send...uh...like a truckload!!!!  I could not believe how much fabric she sent me...I have used the various pieces in quilts, prayer flags, cushions, etc.  I am so grateful and I think of her often as I use up these fabrics...(I still have a box left!!!)...so here is my modest "repayment":

I am six months late making a quilt for our only girl in the Ebersole family side...Jim's brother had 5 boys, his sister 2...our nephew and his wife had 2 boys..and surprise...a little girl!!  Finally!  I made a birdie quilt for her tiny self.

finally, I wanted to show off the birthday cake a talented co-worker friend of mine made for Hubby's birthday...

Homer!!!  I have missed you!

Would anyone be interested in Japanese knot bags?  They can be used to hold small crochet or knitting projects or even as small purses...they would probably be patchworky as I want to use some of my kimono fabric stash....

Been binge watching Girls on HBO, so had plenty of time to make a few little hats for the Innocent Drinks Big Knit Charity 2017!

I have made 23 hats so far and hope to do a total of 50 before I have to mail them at the end of June.  Taking a small break to do some other things so I won't get sick of making them! lol

All of the hats are made from scraps from other projects, which is why some of the color combos are a bit off...oh well..they will all be sold for charity!

Love those doggie scarves!  I hope you get some pics of them in action!

OMG...I love those bead wind chimes...I have all sorts of random beads to use up as well and I am over using them for jewelry...I will save a bunch for TM patches and prayer flags...they seem to keep me happy and busy since I like small projects using scraps and stuff to recycle...

I also like the paper ideas...I just destashed a bunch of pastel notecards in the trading card swap...just sent blanks for others to use Grin...giving it away is destashing, right? lol

I also made a holiday wreath using up bows that I have been storing in my hall closet for years...yeah, it is too early to start holiday crafts, but I was cleaning out my closet and knew I would forget...lol

So simple and cute...

Here is one of the garden fairies that I made from the patterns you gifted me, lindy!  This one is Pansy...doesn't she look sweet next to her own flowers?

In the name of destashing, I am finally doing projects from some of the stuff I collect...I finally made a table runner from my huge collection of doilies...some of these were made by my grandmother, my mom and my aunts...I hope to do a few more to give to my sister and brother for Christmas.

and, in use with some lilacs and hostas from my spring pruning!

Also, finished a pair of socks...I know my mind was not into making these because I really have so many mistakes and they are way too big...I am going to try to shrink them down ... I won't wear them, so hopefully, once shrunk, they will fit someone...I like the softer color palette...but just not for me! Grin

9  Boot Trees from Bed Sheet! in Completed Projects by alwaysinmyroom on: April 15, 2017 10:32:04 AM
A few years ago, we had a challenge to make something from a bed sheet.  I made a dress from the top sheet but still had the bottom sheet left.  Since it was a twin size, it languished in a wash basket for years...

This winter, I bought a bunch of new tall boots and since it is finally getting warm, I am putting away my winter wardrobe. I have used commercial boot trees in the past, rolled newspapers, etc. But I was never happy about them.  I started doodling around and came up with this idea.

I cut the elastic from around the bottom sheet off very carefully. I measured around the fattest and thinnest part of my boots and the height...I sort of drew a wedge from these measurements.  I added the elastic to the sides, making a loop on one side. Stuffed the thing sewing the bottom by hand. After I stuffed them in the boots, they looked plain so I added a felt flower that I sprayed with Fabreze. Target has these really cute baby hangers that I found years ago so I am using them to hang my boots in a closet!

Boot tree and one boot:

The boots can stand on their own if I want:

Boots ready to hang in the closet for next year!

I was in the Boro Stitching swap with craftylittlemonkey last year.  She made me this unusual and beautiful piece

She included instructions on how I could convert it into a tiny house...I finally did it with one change:  I stuffed it with polyfill so I could use it as a pincushion for some special quilting pins.  I just love it!

And, speaking of practical things...finally time to pack away the winter clothing!  I got several new pairs of tall boots this winter and needed a way to store them away.  I have tried rolled newspapers, commercial boot tress, etc. and just did not like using them.  So, what is a craftster to do but to make her own!!!
