Love those doggie scarves!  I hope you get some pics of them in action!

OMG...I love those bead wind chimes...I have all sorts of random beads to use up as well and I am over using them for jewelry...I will save a bunch for TM patches and prayer flags...they seem to keep me happy and busy since I like small projects using scraps and stuff to recycle...

I also like the paper ideas...I just destashed a bunch of pastel notecards in the trading card swap...just sent blanks for others to use Grin...giving it away is destashing, right? lol

I also made a holiday wreath using up bows that I have been storing in my hall closet for years...yeah, it is too early to start holiday crafts, but I was cleaning out my closet and knew I would forget...lol

So simple and cute...

Here is one of the garden fairies that I made from the patterns you gifted me, lindy!  This one is Pansy...doesn't she look sweet next to her own flowers?

In the name of destashing, I am finally doing projects from some of the stuff I collect...I finally made a table runner from my huge collection of doilies...some of these were made by my grandmother, my mom and my aunts...I hope to do a few more to give to my sister and brother for Christmas.

and, in use with some lilacs and hostas from my spring pruning!

Also, finished a pair of socks...I know my mind was not into making these because I really have so many mistakes and they are way too big...I am going to try to shrink them down ... I won't wear them, so hopefully, once shrunk, they will fit someone...I like the softer color palette...but just not for me! Grin

4  Boot Trees from Bed Sheet! in Completed Projects by alwaysinmyroom on: April 15, 2017 10:32:04 AM
A few years ago, we had a challenge to make something from a bed sheet.  I made a dress from the top sheet but still had the bottom sheet left.  Since it was a twin size, it languished in a wash basket for years...

This winter, I bought a bunch of new tall boots and since it is finally getting warm, I am putting away my winter wardrobe. I have used commercial boot trees in the past, rolled newspapers, etc. But I was never happy about them.  I started doodling around and came up with this idea.

I cut the elastic from around the bottom sheet off very carefully. I measured around the fattest and thinnest part of my boots and the height...I sort of drew a wedge from these measurements.  I added the elastic to the sides, making a loop on one side. Stuffed the thing sewing the bottom by hand. After I stuffed them in the boots, they looked plain so I added a felt flower that I sprayed with Fabreze. Target has these really cute baby hangers that I found years ago so I am using them to hang my boots in a closet!

Boot tree and one boot:

The boots can stand on their own if I want:

Boots ready to hang in the closet for next year!

I was in the Boro Stitching swap with craftylittlemonkey last year.  She made me this unusual and beautiful piece

She included instructions on how I could convert it into a tiny house...I finally did it with one change:  I stuffed it with polyfill so I could use it as a pincushion for some special quilting pins.  I just love it!

And, speaking of practical things...finally time to pack away the winter clothing!  I got several new pairs of tall boots this winter and needed a way to store them away.  I have tried rolled newspapers, commercial boot tress, etc. and just did not like using them.  So, what is a craftster to do but to make her own!!!

I am so excited to see what AIMR does with the thing I sent her and am patiently waiting for pics but in the meantime I thought I'd show you this little teaser. It's probably less than a 1" square patch, I went teeny weeny and super detailed.

Do you guys remember the awesome piece I got from craftylittlemonkey?  Well, I finally got around to sewing it up as per her instructions, and here is how it turned out!  I love it!  I stuffed the insides with poly so I can use it as a pincushion for some of my quilting pins!  What a clever piece you designed, CLM!  It was perfect and quite easy to put together!

I saved the little scraps that had beautiful stitching on it to use for a fabric journal page I am making...BONUS!

Thanks again for a lovely swap!

Kittykill made a super video on how to make faux chocolate Easter eggs!  Check it out!

I made a few and had so much fun!  These were the only flowers I had.  I am taking them to the nursing home to my SIL, so they will be fine since she loves bright colors.  I want to get cream or white decorations since that is how I remember them as a kid!

Anyway, Easter eggs!

I will scan my flowchart for you edelc! lol  It is insane but keeps me on track and organized!

Challenge #1:

I didn't make a single quilt in 2016...all of my quilted projects were small, the largest being a Halloween runner!  wow...I need to make up for that slacking behavior this year! lol

edelc--not sure how luggage charges work internationally, but when I went to Japan, I bought another suitcase while I was there and then paid for it to get home...the cost was way less than shipping so I packed that bag up to the maximum weight of 66 pounds! ha ha And yeah, a lot of it was Japanese fabrics...

Those little felt twinchies could be the start of yet another scrap busting addiction!  So cute, CLM!

Both of my partners received in the TM patch swap:

A friend of mine lost her second child a few days after she was born...her name was Violet.  Each year for about five years, they celebrate her short life and share it with her older sister and little brother.  I was trying to think of something I could make to help in the celebration and remembrance.

I decided to make some spring things for them...not finished yet with little brother's gifts yet, but working on it!

Here is the whole group:

For the sister, I made a mini tote bag and coin purse:

For my friend, I made a patchwork pouch and for both of them, I made tissue holders:

I had a busy weekend and it was nice to have sad and happy memories of baby Violet.
