I forgot to post the TM patches I made for my second partner in the last swap.  Her pictures turned out way better than mine...I have a lot of fun making these.

Finally got an apron from my Pinterest done!  It is made with one leg of a pair of black jeans that was wearing out and too small...made the binding (goofed on the first fat quarter, and got strips instead of continuous binding...ooops!)

I also got one of those annoying but necessary projects out of the way. I use our guest bathroom when we don't have guests. In that bathroom, I have a small round hamper that I use during the week...well, when guest use the bathroom, my dirty laundry is there for all to see...so, I made a cover for it to use when guests come over so that my undies stay out of view  Grin

I received from our organizer, inselaeffchen!  She went with my Dr. Who theme, which is great because I am trying to put together a themed notebook!

Nice sized embroidered patches, they are!

Here is Dr. #12--a bit dark, but the thread is glittery!

My favorite Dr. #4...I have made so many crafts around this one...including the scarf, a quilt, embroideries...love him!!

Also, look at how the edges are finished...cute and neat!

Thanks so much! They will both go together with my patches from this round and a few rounds back!

Really pretty!  I need to buy plants to fill my baskets...I have been lazy the last few years and purchased baskets, but they don't last very long...they last and bloom longer into the season if you plant them yourself and watch them grow!

I am posting a few things I made this month:

Autumn shawl

Patriotic shawl

You can see more pics of them on the shawl along on the crochet board.

I also did an 6x6 art work piece for a swap...

And, these two fun little things for my hubby. He is a drummer so the students like to find odd drumming things to give him when they are done with lessons or for Christmas. He had a lot of things laying around in a box because he didn't know what to do with them.  I am slowing making him some useful things that he can display as well...

Dog playing drums glued onto a box I painted to look like a wooden stage...it opens and is lined with felt.  He can use it to store his micro disks from filming his gigs...

Ant playing drums glued onto a jar...as soon as he decided what he wants to put in the jar, I will make him a label

5  Re: Crochet Shawl-Along (Formerly the Virus Shawl-Along) in Crochetalongs by alwaysinmyroom on: May 14, 2018 05:48:48 PM
I started a virus shawl for my friend when this shawl along first started...but, the colors were not "autumn" enough.  When I spotted this yarn on line (Ice yarn) in these colors, I knew it would be perfect for her!

I used the Summer Morning pattern on page 1, sort of...It was a bit boring so I used a few rows of popcorns and did a simpler edging...

Here it is on a blouse she likes...the colors match perfectly!

I used a G hook. So it was a bit larger than the Volcano shawl I did.

The next shawl was done with the same yarn. It was done using a J hook...the pattern is called Penelope's Shawl. It is really a beginner shawl. I think I will donate it to the Wounded Warrior auction this August.

I am about done with shawls until later in the fall...too hot for me...

6  Dots dots dots...and a bird... in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by alwaysinmyroom on: May 14, 2018 06:16:30 AM
I made this for geekgirl1000100 in the 6x6 Art Swap...

I thank her for allowing me to experiment! She is an awesome artist and a friend and pretty much lets her partners have artistic license...

My younger sister had given me a lot of tools for dot painting because she thought she would like it but didn't...I wasn't sure I was going to like it any better...too time consuming, I thought.

I started to do a layered piece but everything looked so muddied and like a bad palette board of greys and ugly browns, so I ditched that one...

Then, I decided I was going to try a pour...again, it was probably not the best paint so the colors ran together into a monochromatic look, that I was not happy with...strike two! lol

My third attempt was with encaustic...I love encaustic...I use a mini quilt iron to do my encaustic work, but my bees wax was old and the entire piece came out yellow/brown...I wanted bright and happy!  UGH!

The deadline was looming, so I was in the do or die mode of crafting!

I started by painting flat black over a freshly gessoed canvas. I didn't like the flat look so I stenciled on lightly some gloss black.  Still not enough texture for my taste, so I stenciled again with a bit of white mixed with the black, ie. grey...

I used a thin white paint pen to draw the flowers but they looked so wimpy...I decided to try a few dots, then next thing you know, I was dotting everything... thanks to my little sis, I am now addicted...she will be getting a piece I made for her as well.

Some close ups to show the texture:

That is awesome gala_apples!

Here are the TM patches I made in the last swap.  The blue jeans one is from my hubby's pants that he thinks I am repairing...nope...

Well, not sure what is going on with the package that I sent to my partner. Hopefully she got it and it is not lost in mail hell!

Anyway, in case she just hasn't had time to post pics, these are the three patches I made.

The large one is made from the knee of hubby's jeans...he thinks I am repairing his jeans...uh...no...most was cut up for other projects...lol

I inserted a silk flower in the felt "vase"...the other one is for her sunset theme...

Rosie1981...please let me know if you did not receive these...I will make another set!

Here is the beautiful piece I received from geekgirl1000100!  She did an assemblage piece that incorporated my love of birds, music and the outdoors!  She really did think carefully about the construction...it is very well made and the parts holding it all together really add to the assemblage feel that I love!

The entire piece is covered and the rolled up music and twigs are held on with glue and wire...

Thanks for my art!  Hubby wants to hang it in the waiting room of his music studio so that his students and their parents can enjoy it!

10  No Water Needed Cacti in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by alwaysinmyroom on: May 07, 2018 01:23:31 PM
I have tried growing succulents and cacti to no avail...I just over water and they turn to mush. When I saw these rock cacti on Pinterest, I decided I could probably make them but I was worried that they would either look too real or too cartoonish...I was going more for a fun, funky, look twice thing...

Anyway, they were pretty easy...I picked a few rocks out of my front walkway, which is all river rocks...painted them with white gesso and then green...I followed a rock painting tutorial from Pinterest.

I sunk the painted rocks into crazy colored fish gravel and then covered that up with a light coat of grey tiny pebbles...but, my cats decided to tip the thing over and I had gravel all over the floor!

So, I stuck the whole thing together and then thinned down some clear glue and poured it over the whole thing...those suckers aren't going anywhere, but it does weight a lot more now... Cheesy...My cats have left it alone.

Finally, cacti that is cat proofed and me proofed!  I don't think it needs any sun, but just in case, I put it in the window...
