Totally working on my stash...even skipped a trip to Joann's to use an expiring coupon...more will be coming, so I am going to continue to work only from my stash!

I found this cute duck cloth fabric while cleaning and decided I had enough to make pattern weights...hubby is also on a destash mission, so anything that is not being used is getting gone!  I quickly saved this sunflower dish that has been sitting in the garage for about 20 years to hold my little weights...and guess what I used inside?  I found a bag of aquarium gravel!  We haven't had fish in over 30 years! ha ha

Of course, I had to line the little bags with pul to be sure no dust or anything bad would leak from the gravel...

Seriously, I think small items take twice as long to make than large items!

I made long overdue pattern weights using alink that was provided by TheMistressT nearly 8 years ago!

I also made a sweater guard using a vintage pair of earrings that belonged to my MIL and a belly chain from the 1980's (my belly has outgrown the chain...ha ha)...

And, finally, I took a picture of a small clothesline and crochet basket that I needed for my desk to temporarily hold bits of yarn and embroidery thread for projects I completed...I will put them in their proper place after it starts to overflow..

Phew...can't wait to start my bigger items!

3  Needle Minders using Singleton buttons in Needlework: Completed Projects by alwaysinmyroom on: February 24, 2018 11:29:42 AM

I have been seeing a lot of different needle minders and thought they were a wonderful idea to keep my needle handy when I am doing cross stitch or embroidery...but, like most Craftsters, I never got around to making myself any...well, this year, I have committed to making something for me every month!  I also committed to making all of those things I pinned that would be useful to me...microwave bowl holders, cord holders, ear bud holders, etc, etc.

So, with that in mind, when I saw a needle minder made by craftylittlemonkey that kept the two magnets together, I knew that this was the style for me!

I love making Singleton buttons (...google this...they are fun to make as well...) so I made a pair for each needle minder, glued in the magnets (be very careful that you do not flip the magnets so that they repel each other!! Remember your science...two positives or two negatives will repel!), slipped in a ribbon, sewed felt to the backs, and DONE!

For being a small project, they sure messed up my crafting room:  had to dig out ribbon, thread, fabrics, magnets, felt, glue...oh well, they were worth it!

This weekend I am working on a mix of small projects that will be useful and large projects to destash....

Here is a crochet cat bowl I made using two strands of some yarn that I frogged from a shawl I had made for my mother. I couldn't bear to give it away after she died but I also did not want to wear it...so now, my cats can enjoy the new bed...as you can see, it was intended for my old small orange cat, but it seems like my medium sized black cat Rocket has claimed it...he fought off the huge black cat to lay claim to this, so he must like it a lot! ha ha

I also spent way too much time and made such a huge mess making these small needle minders...had to find the rings, special fabric, ribbon, glue, magnets. embroidery thread...my craft area is a mess!

Trying to use up large pieces of fabric and yarn so that I don't have to pack them for moving!  But, in between, I am trying to use up all of these hundreds of small things I have received, found, collected, etc. I have a bunch of freebie sample from Spoonflower that measure about 5x5 or so...I have used some in prayer flags, TM patches, etc.

I have a new Airpad tablet and didn't have anything to store the charger and earbuds...I decided to make one of those wide mouth pouches in a mini version...love how it turned out...

The inside is batik in my favorite color!

For scale:

I also made another heart...

I also live in woods...when I feel the need to camp, I pitch the tent and mostly sleep...the problem is that my cats find me and want in...my camping days mostly involve hotels now...lol

So far, used up 8 yards of fabric for pillowcases!!!

In between, I made a little pouch from a Spoonflower freebie sample--the sample measured about 5x5 inches, so not a real stash buster but something I kept moving from place to place .  I am going to use it to hold my charger and ear buds for my Airpad tablet. I added a spoon for size reference.

I love the Olympics!  Last night was exciting with the figure skating!  While I was watching, I decided to cut out a bunch of Hiros to send to Lana...thought it would eat into my stash of fleece scraps a bit more, but many of the scraps were a bit too small!  I did manage this bunch along with some hearts to sew on...I will get them to you this week, UTM!

My partner in the mixed media heart swap received...I am always inspired by Smmarrt...making things for her is always fun and a challenge...for this swap, I made fabric out of the bits of fabric and string that I save...I then painted some canvas, stitched the new fabric on top and made a heart "pillow"...the hanger is from a skirt that batgirl gave me years ago.  The metal heart is a whimsy rackycoo sent me...and the tassel, I believe, was in a package from craftylittlemonkey...see...I save EVERYTHING! lol

Anyway, making a few more to send love to long distance friends who need a boost right now...

I also made these for Lana's Small Things Matter charitable organization...they are stuffie bodies for kids to decorate and then donate to kids in need of some happiness and comfort!
