I made this last month for a valentine's swap, but she just now received it. Ugh.

I used a strick liesel to make the i-cord and I knitted and felted all of the hearts :-)

I want to make one for my house, now!

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / vintage lion for charity! on: January 27, 2012 08:16:20 PM

my submission for softies for mirabel. by KnitXcorE, on Flickr

I finally finished this lion that I've been working on since November! I'm so proud :-)
She's made almost completely of vintage materials (with the exception of felt anf fiberfill). I even based the pattern of of something from a 1965 craft magazine.
Her "mane" was created using a waldorf doll technique where you hand sew each loop and tack it down with a satin stitch.  The eyes were based on a Dakin Dreampet, and I added the sequins. The dress looks simple in the photo but it actually has a ton pleats at the top.
Sadly, I have to pack her up and ship her off next week for a charity event in Australia. I guess I'll always have the pictures.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / jaywalker socks! on: January 19, 2012 03:40:33 PM

jaywalkers! by KnitXcorE, on Flickr

I finally finished these socks! I've casted on for them more than four times. I had a lot of issues with the fit. They kept coming out insanely tight, and with no stretch.
I eventually ended up adding two extra sections of chevron so I would be able to pull them over my ankles.
It's funny, I have really thin legs but these socks just weren't working with the dimensions in the pattern. My gauge was on, so it wasn't me. IDK!
I'm so glad that they are finally finished and that the fit me!
