1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / big ole dinner party on: April 09, 2009 09:14:31 PM
so, due to the fact that i can't go home for easter, i'm going to be hosting dinner for all my friends. probably about 25 total. i'm going to do pasta and sauce, plus roasted vegetables and salad. i don't mind buying a ton of food, but i'm nervous that i won't make enough. any tips on how much stuff i should make? i tend to go overboard sometimes, but I want to make sure I make enough without overwhelming myself.

any tips would be fabulous.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / pattern help (for a free people dress) on: July 07, 2008 04:04:58 PM
for some reason, we get sent the catalogue for free people every so often. i was flipping through july's today and came across an awesome cable dress that looks like it could be easy to make:

i think it might be a pretty basic top-down, but the sleeve holes are odd to me. they are very square.

anyways, i just wanted a pattern to use as a jumping off point in making this. any good sweater patterns i could sub in?

is there a sole in it? how did you come up with the pattern? are you going to make another one?

basically, any description of the process would be great.

i'm working on that right now, but i fear that school work will make it take months and months.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Banana Republic Hat Knockoff *big pics* **Now with PATTERN!** on: September 28, 2007 07:31:05 AM
i've made two of these over the past few days, and am making more over the weekend. i've also found a vera wang hat that i plan on making myself as well.

is the vera wang hat possibly the one that mary-kate olsen is wearing in the october issue of harper's? i've drooling over it lately.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Yarn shops in Boston--any suggestions? on: September 09, 2007 03:21:19 PM
windsor button in downtown crossing is really nice. everything seems to be average price. i know there's one in harvard square, but it seemed expensive. i also think there's a store on newbury st. (which isn't far from dowtown crossing,  on the other side of the common). newbury, though, is always expensive.

hopefully other people will provide some more stores. i think there was a similar topic on the massachusetts board that you can check out.
