1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / recipe for top-down beanie? on: February 11, 2007 04:48:10 AM
hi! i'm a fairly new crocheter and i have no problem with scarves, and so, but i would like to make a beanie, and all patterns that i find are written for some american yarn or so, and i'm bit uncapable of determining a gauge. could you direct me towards some beanie recipe that would just say how often do i increase and till when. does somethin like that exist?Smiley
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / blue-green journal on: December 28, 2006 07:41:36 PM
hi:) i'm newbie in bookbinding, i started learning it since my swap partner wants one, so here is my practice journal:

it is made for one very special person, and i know he will like it even if it's not so pefect. i'm quite proud, but i used some weird paper for cover (i got so addicted that i went to bookshop 5 minutes before closing just to get supplies:)), and glue ate color in few places, so i have put tag with lyrics over that white stain. Pages are not perfectly lined up, i need bit of practice. lyrics on cover say "dreams are worth most when they grew old together with you", something like that:) there are some kitty stickers and punched angels inside, but it's so simple that i would feel bad about putting tons of photos here:)

things i forgot to do:
put a bookmark, i had it ready and just forgot to stick it somewhere:(
bind one envelope together with pages, for keeping small papers and so, i always glue one to the end of my notebooks
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Rufus the Leprechaun - with link to pattern on: December 12, 2006 03:46:19 PM
I've just realized that I've never posted my Leprechaun. I've made it for cat toy swap a long time ago (he is probably dead now, kitties are so cruel:)):

i suck at embroidery, so he has simple face:)

EDIT: here is pattern link, and it is free:) http://home.alphalink.com.au/~woodsy/freerufuspat.htm

(i was very unexperienced knitter at the time, hence my Rufus is simpler:))

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / help me finding swedish hat pattern on: November 28, 2006 04:55:10 PM
i would like to make hat in a swedish style for my friend, and i don't know difference from swedish, norwegian and generally scandinavian patterns, and he does. so i would like to give him a real thing. can someone direct me towards traditional swedish hat (or maybe mittens?) pattern?
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / looking for a vest pattern... on: November 07, 2006 03:30:56 PM
well, i have this totally beautiful yarn:
(click for bigger)

i've bought it long time ago, and i can't find it anymore, and i have only 4 skeins/560 meters
i would like to make some sort of vest with it, but it seems like none of the existing patterns is working, they all need more yarn:(
i would like something with deep V, very simple, to wear over my shirts. does anyone have any ideas? gauge is 21st/4"(10cm) on size 4 (3,5mm) needles, but i'm able to modify pattern if it needs different gauge:)
i'm ready to pay for it as long as i can do it with my visa credit card (no paypal in my country yet:))

thanks for all the help:)

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / witch party on: August 22, 2006 03:16:42 AM
not exactly party, more like a date wannabe, but there is this guy.. i told him i'm a witch, and nuclear war will start today, and my place is only safe place in planet... and he agreed to come over:)))))

he is a friend, and he was at my place before, but this time i really want to surprise him, so i decided to decorate place like i really am i witch:) the thing is, he will come in 7 hours, and i work for next 4, so no time for buying fake bones or something like this. i need quick and simple ideas:)

i've decided to cover table in black cloth, draw a white pentagram on it, lit some candles, put a bowl with blood(strawberry syrup) in the middle, wear black, put a bloody knife next to my computer, and use kool-aid for potions... and of corse, christian choir music for background. but i need more ideas. what can i use to paint my cat black?Smiley

and how can i combine popcorns with this? he is mad about popcorns:D
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Newbie Crocheter and Pain in Wrist on: August 07, 2006 03:05:58 AM
hi! i just recently discovered joy of crocheting, i'm normally a knitter. yesterday i was crocheting for, lets say, 2 hours, and my wrist was in horrible pain. i hold the needle as suggested in happy hooker. am i holding it wrong, is it because i'm newbie, or maybe because i'm lefty, and i crochet (and knit) with right hand, or should i just quit crocheting cause it is dangerous for wrists?Smiley what can i do to minimize pain?

and ideas, suggestions?
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Steve Jackson's "Munchkin" Custom Cards on: July 13, 2006 02:26:25 PM
i'm having a great time making up cards to add to my munchkins deck, and i noticed there is many munchkin players on this board. maybe we could do a little swap? it is great challenge to draw a picture and put text on such a small surface, and it would be cool to see your custom cards:) and bonus is that cards are small, so posting will be cheap:)

anyone interested?
