1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / creative couples costumes?? on: September 09, 2006 04:58:21 PM
so my boyfriend and i are invited to this HUGE Halloween party that only happens every other year, and we really want to get creative and have kick-ass costumes. but, we're both coming up short on ideas. we want to do something that goes together, but something that will send people for a loop... something out of the ordinary and kind of out there. we're up for just about anything.

Does anyone have any ideas? it can be abstract or concrete... ANYTHING!

Smiley thanks in advance!
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / pirate ipod case goes overboard :( on: June 09, 2006 09:26:05 AM
my boyfriend has been bugging me for months to make him a case for his ipod. yesterday, i was browsing the fabric store and found this great red and white striped fabric that reminded me of pirates, so an idea popped into my head. boyfriend would finally get his case!! i had it all planned out... it would be one of those cases with a flap over the front, which would have holes cut out for the screen and click wheel. i decided to stencil a pirate skull and crossbones on the front (which came out awesome), then attach elastic so he could secure the flap over the front. i even bought enough felt to do TWO layers of padding, so his precious ipod wouldn't get beat up in the pit of his car.

i brought it all home, and got to work.

now, i've made some complicated things before, mostly just winging all of it. i've made a few ipod cases out of felt, and they all came out great. but for some reason, this one wanted to fail on me. it looked amazing up until the last step when i tried to sew everything together. this is what i got:

somehow, the top which fit perfectly in the initial stages somehow managed to be TOO tall, and the screen and clickwheel holes are too far down. hmph. it also poofs up retardedly.

here is the front with the flap down. i didn't even bother to add the elastic becasue, look how ridiculous it looks. i figured the front would be a little short, but i mean... c'mon. my pattern worked perfectly!!

so now i'm sitting here all sad and defeated... any advice on how to make an pod case that DOESN'T look this dumb upon finishing? poor boyfriend... he has been waiting so long for this. Sad
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / One Fish Two Fish White Halter Blue Halter on: June 01, 2006 10:12:14 AM
My first two reconstructions!!

This was my first:

t-shirt was a men's L or XL I think that my bf and I rescued from the Salvation Army. It was initally going to be a bag, but I wanted to recon my one fish two fish shirt (below), but didn't want to screw it up. This was my test-run, and it came out better than I ever could have imagined!

And onto the second:

Who DOESN'T love Dr. Seuss? I was going to shorten the length, but I think I like it where it is. What do you guys think? I don't think I did too shabby for my first try...

This is going to become an addiction!
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / t-shirt bags! on: February 09, 2006 05:32:27 PM
I made these a few weeks ago. The Batman bag was made out of an XL (or XXL... it didn't have a size) tshirt that I got from my local salvation army (it is now home to my knitting stuff) and the other bag was made out of my field hockey jersey from the 8th grade. I love 'em... tell me what you think!

(the bottom really isn't lopsided... it must be the picture)

(even a lined pocket for my new ipod video!!)
