1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / *closed & in process* - Postcard Ring - Collage your town! on: April 22, 2004 07:58:00 AM
I'd love to start a postcard ring.  Here's how it's going to work.  Roll Eyes I'd like to get 5 people sending postcards to everybody in the group.  So, you'll be making 4 postcards... and the theme is COLLAGE YOUR TOWN!  Everybody makes 4 postcards and sends them to the others in the ring.  Anybody can join.  International/National/Extraterrestrial/Etc.  The theme is open, so please keep it clean and appropriate.  I'll need you to PM me your screen name, real name, snail mail address, email address.  And I'll email-distribute the mailing list to everybody.  The deadline is until 5 people sign up.  I love my town, and I want to share that with others around the country/world, and collaging postcards for others about my city is a great way to share that.

I'd like it if we could send these postcards by the 8th of May.  If that's reasonable.

Let's go, crafters!
2  Illinois / Illinois: North / Yarn Swap in Chicago? on: April 22, 2004 07:23:59 AM
Is anybody interested in starting a yarn swap in chicago?  Or does anybody know of any swapping already in progress?  I'd love to start doing this, because I have a lot of yarn that I don't need and aren't going to use.

Let me know, I'd love to join up with other knitters in the chicago area! Smiley
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / How profitable is your website? on: April 20, 2004 07:14:20 AM
Pardon me if this is an inappropriate question, but, I too am a *Crafty Queen* and would love to start selling my purses, magnets, scarves, homemade fortune cookies, handmade cards, etc.... and I was really wondering, since I haven't started up a website yet, how profitable is it?  Is it worth me taking the *time/effort/energy/resources* to set up a website?  Do you find that it's profitable enough to make it worth it?  I know it's all about the love of what we do, but, in a practical sense, we need to think - is it worth it?  Can someone give me an idea of how competitive the market is and how you feel about this?

Thank you so much, I'm starting to get serious about what I do, and would love to get my world rolling.
4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Chili, anybody? on: April 19, 2004 01:48:35 PM
OK, I am going to a Chili cook-off on Sunday... and I need to know a really, REALLY great Chili recipe that I can totally stun my friends with.  (It's a whole "we all cook and we're completely competitive over who's better" thing) ... I have a few that I've been thinking of, but, I just wondered if anybody had one that would totally blow my socks off.

Smiley Thanks ahead of time.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Triangle Afghan on: April 05, 2004 07:21:19 AM
Hi all, first time poster - Was interested in doing an Afghan made by piecing together lots of triangles.  http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/afghans/shortrow.htm is the best example that I have found in what I'm interested in doing.  Has anybody made this/done something along these lines?  I also don't know how to wrap and turn.  Does anybody know how and would be willing to explain it in simple language for me? Smiley
