21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Not your ordinary belt pack/purse on: February 19, 2008 12:14:57 PM
Alright I admit I let the 4 year old use the sewing machine..... I promise I ran the controls (her legs are to short to reach the pedal) and I did not let her use the rotary cutter.  But she guided the fabric through the machine (Thank heavens for good feed dog pressure)  and she designed it herself.

Her requirements

must have a bow
must have 2 straps
must have a pocket on the outside
must have a flap

So here is her first bag

DRESS.  A massive overhaul to a McCall's Pattern that called for a tiered ruffle back skirt and a elastic waist in the back.  This was made for and modeled by my four year old Katherine.

27  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / DORMANT: Crochet for the Tiny Ones (with pattern links) on: February 01, 2008 05:36:48 PM
I have set myself a goal 40 Preemie Hats and 40 pairs of seamless baby socks size 0-3 months by July 31, 2008.  These items will be donated to the local NICU.

These are the patterns I am using
Teresa's 10 Minute Crochet Preemie Hat

Baby Socks

Would anyone like to craft along with me as I work towards this goal.  Most local hospitals would love to have these items for the very tiny ones.
28  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Gulf Shores on: January 30, 2008 05:35:25 PM
Worked this hat up tonight in Red Heart Super Saver the color name is Ocean.  The Pattern is by Melissa Rotert and is available for free at http://www.crochetme.com/belliveau-cove-gulf-shores.  I followed the pattern as written and it is shown here on my 4 year old daughter Katie.  She loves it and the pattern easily fits an adult.  It took me about two hours to work up, but then again I have three kids at my feet, an easy project for a lazy afternoon,

Please excuse the ferret cage in the background

ooops the laundry shows in this one

good representation of color

So what do you think?

29  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Ferret Swap on: January 05, 2008 01:15:06 PM
Ferret Owners Unanimous

There are a lot of great pet swaps out there.  That include all types of pets but are you really proud of your Silverfoot, your sable, or your cinnamon?  Have you ever dreamed of attending the Ferret Buckeye Bash in Columbus, OH?   I've crocheted dog sweaters , stuffed catnip treats and baked dog biscuits, but the true challenge has been cage pads, ramp covers, sleep sacks, hammocks with a sleeping sack feel to it so they can burrow and ferret clothes.  Anyone up to joining a specialized swap for ferret lovers and their ferrets?
30  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Craftstership Swap on: December 19, 2007 06:58:03 AM
Here's the idea.  Not too much crafting involved and LOW shipping cost.

Groups of 8.  First Timers may join 1 group. Experienced may join 2 groups. FOC may join 3 groups.

You simply cut 8 squares 12 1/2 " x 12 1/2 " of the same cotton or 50/50 cotton/poly print fabric and 8 squares of  muslin ( WHITE FABRIC) 12 1/2 " x 12 1/2 ".  On the white fabric embroider your craftster name and city, state.

Shipping will work like this.
Place one print and one white embroidered in an envelope.  That's eight envelopes.

Each person will keep one of their envelopes and ship one to each of the other seven group members.  In the end you will end up with 8 print squares and 8 embroidered squares.  No DC#'s will be used since the packages are so small but if yours does not arrive you will be required to resend or receive negative feedback.

You will be able to piece these squares into a beautiful 48" X 48" quilt top

More than one group yields more than one top.

Anyone up for it come mid January?

Shipping should be less than $5.00 a quilt top.  You will be given 3 weeks from close of signups to cut and stitch before shipping
