1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Zipped up Earbuds on: July 09, 2010 08:05:46 PM
I discovered a very similar design here-- http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/04/22/zip-up-tangles/

I still think your purple ones are way cooler.

I need to replace my earphones about once a month, but this is the answer to my problems!
I'm hitting 'this rocks' because it does. More than you'll ever know. Actually, you probably do know. Anyway, I LOVE it. And I love the choice of purple and gold as a color. Very chic and very clever.
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: jersey dress + tutorial on: February 08, 2010 04:37:41 AM
i LOVE the clothes you've sewn! I just looked through all your previous topics and i LOVE your items. I really ilke the white dress and those shorts, wow. I wish I could sew my own clothes but I'm still just trying to learn to use my sewing machine at all. How did you learn? Where? Any advice, tips? I'm just so nervous about making my own clothes...

I feel the same way but people like the original thread poster make it look so easy! Haha. Perhaps this dress will be my first sewing project. Cheesy
4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Do NOT buy from Opelika Sewing!!! on: February 08, 2010 04:34:07 AM
I think there was a misunderstanding--from their perspective, it probably seemed like you were deliberately hotlinking and not doing anything about it. I know that I would get pretty angry if someone stole my bandwidth.

Whether Ophelika's reaction was justified or not is up for debate, but in either case, I don't think I'll ever buy from Ophelika. I live outside the US and with the added cost of int'l shopping + added risk of something going awry during the process, I can't afford to deal with a company that conducts itself so unprofessionally.

I used to work in a situation where I had to deal with frustrating clients from time to time. When I was justifiably angry or annoyed, everyone would support me--boss, coworkers, etc.--but if I had ever dealt with my anger through mocking the client, or some underhanded, anonymous way, I would have been fired. Not because I was wrong to get angry, but wrong to react in a way that would have made the company look like it was run by fifth graders.
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Re: silhouette ATCs on: February 04, 2010 08:01:41 AM
The ideas and execution are both brilliant. I can't even pick a favorite; I love them all.

I would love to have any one of them... but if I were you I'd be sad about having to let go of them, haha.
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: If you didn't think I was nuts already... on: February 01, 2010 05:53:23 PM
These are lovely! I would totally pay for these--very adorable and colorful!

But is E6000 strong enough to hold the rings together? I once (or twice, or more) bought jewelry from sellers who made the pieces with E6000, and the pieces would often come apart... sorry to ask this question here, but I've never been able to make pretty pieces (like yours!) because I couldn't find a reliable glue.
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: The amazing feejee mermaid... FROM BORNEO! (with tutorial) on: January 21, 2010 01:02:17 PM
Oh WOW; that's absolutely brilliant!!!!!! She's beautiful! (she? he?) I want it.
The documents on the wall are a nice touch--details like that really complete a project, but the mermaid alone is extremely realistic... I suppose it helps that half of it is real!

Have you ever heard of the 'cryptozoological scientific art' of Alex CF?
I don't want to divert attention away from your fabulous mermaid but it immediately reminded me of some of Alex CF's creations, although I'm not sure if he uses taxidermy. Smiley
8  COOKING / Dessert / Re: "Buckeyes" or "Holy cow that tastes just like a Reese's cup" recipe w/PIX! on: December 23, 2009 05:35:11 AM
Thank you. Seriously, thank you so much... Reese's are my ALL TIME FAVORITEST EVER candies, and I happen to live in a country that doesn't sell 'em. YOU SAVED ME!
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: My new awesome diorama! Pic heavy on: December 13, 2009 01:02:14 PM
Everything everyone else said (gorgeous, clever, awesome) and more! I love dioramas but yours is especially brilliant. I love the title.
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Rufflely-Striped Skirt, popping my post cherry. Please be gentle. on: October 28, 2009 08:38:04 AM
Very creative work. If she's not your friend anymore, ask her to givetake it back!
I agree, except with the part I crossed out. Wink

It's perfect. I'd have trouble giving away something this scrumptious even to my own daughter (altough I don't hve a daughter). Love the fabric, shape... it's adorable. I can't believe it only took you five hours though; you must be an amazing seamstress.
