21  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Re: Any spinners in Wellington? on: December 03, 2007 12:20:15 AM
i'm quite keen on the guild thing- and am not worried about who's there - but I don't have a car, and I've got two small children, so trying to get anywhere to go to a meeting is really tough.

That's kind of why I put it on here - in case there was anyone willing to swap spinning lessons for jewellery/jewellery lessons...

At the moment my fingers are completely cut up from filing metal anyway... I have to put tape over them to knit, or my fingers rip the wool. Gross, eh.... Ha.

I thought waiting would be best.... I'm kind of running the next month with my stop watch on- literally. I have heaps of deadlines - and some stuff i can do with my kids around, and some not. so all the hours get allocated. sad huh? It's mainly old age, and that you can't do jewellery when you are tired - so there are no all-nighters close to xmas. that's how houses get burned down. (actually, really...)

How shall I put this. How about theoretically...

In theory, if one is finished, does one send early, therefore making the recipient wait for almost a month to open - which does seem unnecessarily cruel, or is it common swap ettiquette to wait til the sendout date...

So. Don't hit me. It's only a theory after all.... Lips sealed
ha ha ha...

Long white cloud - seen you about on craftster before - and wondered if you were from Aotearoa.... I'm trying very hard to look after it- not so easy, though - the SUV's are trying to take over...

The crafting is much more fun though...

Thanks for the encouragement... Sometimes when you are sitting alone in your workroom with your ideas for company, you do begin to question your sanity.... Grin
Usually I try not to be attached to the things I make, but these guys are a bit lovely, and when one of them had a serious accident and his legs fell off and melted, I was actually quite distraught... Cry

In a moment of strange insomniac inspiration I was visited by these little dudes, just asking to be made.

They were as fiddly as )#$%, but rather satisfying.... I can just imagine dudes on slides, dudes on merry-go-rounds, little dudes on a necklace all holding hands. The possibilities are endless.

They are all sterling silver, and very, very swingy...

Just finished - no, not my swappy thing - but the thing that almost cut my fingers off. Thought I'd post here insted of the jewellery board... It's so terribly innocent looking. And i'm pretty pleased with it.

But we all know its dark little secret... ouch Shocked

I think a Hardcore (?!) card would be cool.
and i guess a vice might save the fingers - but i would actually have to do something about it.... Tongue
i'll just add a $10 injury charge to the finished item.... after I've washed all the blood off! (Evil laugh)

But I've plastered up, and am back on the crafting... How many days til posting???
