1  Re: Fiber Friday the 13th! of July in Spinning: Completed Projects by freegrrl2000 on: July 15, 2012 02:26:59 PM
Wow- it's been awhile! I know it's technically no longer friday, but I have here 236 yards of superwash marino, sport to DK weight... I dyed it myself and navajo plied it. I'm thinking some wacky socks?

2 ply BFL top bought off of ETSY (not dyed by myself :-(  ) But I still like how it came out! About 268 yards DK to Worsted. I have so many yummy things from the Rhinebeck Fiber fest to spin up! Can't wait!

I haven't posted in a long long time, but I've been practicing spinning! All three are navajo plied, which I need to work on. I manage to break the yarn a lot, so if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it! All are hand dyed white roving from "Knit Picks."
So without further ado, my lovely model Rusty will show you the latest in homespun fashions.....

Black Watch (60 yards bulky)

High Seas (185 yards bulky thick and thin)

Razzleberry Lemonade (45 yards bulky)

All three!
Thank you all for your inspiration, ideas, and advice!

I haven't posted in a long time but I always visit fiber fridays eagerly! I bought a used louet a few months ago and here is my first born of any quantity! 195 yards of 2 ply merino wool bought at the Rhinebeck fiber fest. The colorway is Mojave.
Please keep the yarn porn coming everyone!

I would LOVE some help here! Thanks everyone!

So I have been lusting after all of the beautiful yarn on here every friday for the last few months, but, being neither knitter nor crochet-er It seemed silly... so I re-learned to crochet, learned to knit, made a spindle, and started spinning!
So, without further ado... in order from left to right, my first to most recent handspun!
The 4 left-most are superwash marino from etsy, the blue was my first foray into plying (turquoise thread), and the last is romney with a little sparkle, which I have begun to knit into an ear warmer.

And last of all, what to do with short little bits of handspun, crochet flowers of course!

(especially this week, WOW!) Roll Eyes

By the way- here is the flower pattern for anyone who is interested!

7  Muu muu to pretty frida-esque skirt with bonus wrap pants to boot! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by freegrrl2000 on: July 03, 2008 06:30:56 PM
So I found this beautiful, albeit HUGE dress at my favorite old lady thrift store and saw the potential, so I lopped off the top, sewed a casing, added a little draw string and viola- skirt that reminds me of frida. I also made these sweet wrap pants that are all the rage. They are super fat in the leg, but very comfy! Thanks for checking 'em out!

8  Wee Fairy garden, or what I did instead of go to school today ;-) in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by freegrrl2000 on: April 24, 2008 01:28:51 PM
So I have been dying to make one of these lately. I do a small container herb garden every year, and this year I thought I would use it to invite some of the "little people" in. So without further ado, my little fairy garden- I made it in a large metal wash tub, almost all of the plants are edible herbs except for three, I made the house out of a hallow tube of bark covered in old mushrooms (window box), the fence is woven willow branches, and everything else is thrifted. For scale my fairy is about 4 inches tall. Enjoy!

Well, for those of you who remember this post: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=185169.0
I ended up making THIS and wearing it to the wedding! Same pattern as the other one, but different fabric, added bias tape, and a pretty matching button from my stash. I LOVE this pattern! Hope you like, and thanks for looking! Ciao!

And the whole shebang!
