11  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Need help with Ashford Traveller! on: March 10, 2007 05:14:18 AM
Thanks!  I finally found the pdf of the assembly guide online and put it on right.  I even went to the hardware store and bought the little springs for the brake band that they show in the diagrams.  It works like a dream!  I'm in love with this wheel.  I almost feel like I did something wrong by getting it so cheap...if they hadn't been so smart mouthed about how no one would ever want a spinning wheel I might have offered them an extra $20.

Ok, I got the most awesome deal ever on an Ashford Traveller...$29.99 at a local antique store, and they were more than happy to get rid of it.  they said they never thought it would sell because "who would want a spinning wheel?" and I just smiled and walked out with it.  I've never had a double drive before, and it came with all of its bobbins and everything, but no drive bands or brake band.  I have no idea how to put these bands on...can someone help?

I think this is an awesome idea.  I lost my Godmother to AIDS 2 years ago, and it was devastating.  To know that it all could have been prevented just makes it that much worse.  Big props to you for both your crafting ability and your willingness to speak out!

which color homespun did you use?  I think it's lovely on that shawl, and I don't think I recognize it.
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Can blocking fix this? (with pix) on: February 23, 2007 06:11:47 PM
Blocking can do some really amazing things!  I think the scarf is turning out beautifully, and in my *personal opinion*, blocking should tame it quite a bit.

WOW!  I think this is my favorite Fiber Friday ever!  I wish I wasn't completely out of wool, because if I had any left I'd be up dying all night with all the inspiration you guys have given me.  Hopefully a new shipment will arrive tomorrow Smiley  Due to said lack of wool, I only have 2 to show this week:

Cozumel

and Granite

Have a great weekend everyone!

19  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Knitted cupcake hat! on: January 23, 2007 05:50:06 AM
What a great idea to crochet the trim...I made that hat for my niece this Christmas, and the little nubbles took as long to knit as the entire rest of the hat.  I left off the pom pom & sewed beads & buttons to the top instead.  Here's my version:

What a great job!  I love the bright colors, and I think the flower is cuter than pockets Smiley  Cute baby too!
