1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Frilly girly neckwarmer with crossed stitch - free pattern link on: December 23, 2006 04:43:34 AM
Merry Xmas! Have a free pattern from me. A hair band which doubles as a neck warmer. It can also be tied round your thigh, if you are so inclined, or worn as a bracelet.

image from Flickr - page is here http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/330810406/

When a friend of mine started school, in LA she emailed to say the air conditioning on buses was so strong she wanted a scarf (even when you're still sweating from how hot it is outside). I thought this design might help with the weird swap from sweaty head to cold neck!

It employs a crossed stitch effect, which I've since used in the tie for a hotwaterbottle cover - it makes a nice alternative to eyelets. I also think it'd make a great cuff pattern on a sweater.

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / laceweight soysilk "bridal" tableboth on: November 06, 2006 12:04:35 PM

(photopage here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/290818351/)

I'd not seen this yarn used online before (I'd seen soysilk obviously, but not laceweight) but it was great! Smells a bit weird when wet though. More details (pattern, etc) on the blog:

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / not-so-little (red riding) hoodscarf on: September 23, 2006 06:30:16 AM
I made a LOVELY cabled shrug. Then my HORRIBLE washingmachine felted it. But I've turned it into a hoodscarf - I really like it. More details on my blog:

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / knitty's crusoe (but toe-up, with a dutch heel) on: August 19, 2006 10:06:56 AM
Hot off the needles - a variation on knitty's crusoe http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring03/PATTcrusoe.html

I did it toe up and tried a dutch (square) heel. I used instructions for the toe-up square-heel from http://www.socknitters.com/toe-up/index.htm

(image hosted by flickr, photopage here http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/219209532/)

I think the heel is a bit too square for me, and kinda wide, which I'm yet to form a view on. But I'm going to have a bit of a play round with the formula, see if I can make it fit my foot better.

More details on yarn, etc (and pics of the chocolate cake I made yesterday...) at my knitting blog

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / boyfriend socks on: July 25, 2006 11:12:15 AM

I used LL Shephard Sock Solid in Pewter.

more pics and info on my blog - http://slippedstitch.blogspot.com/2006/07/re-invention.html

It's my own design but apparently it's rather similar to the log cabin socks. I think the construction's pretty different though (its just that they both use the same cable pattern) so was thinking I might put my pattern notes up on my blog.

EDIT: patten now up
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / cashmere circles scarf on: July 06, 2006 09:16:05 AM
I made a scarf out of double-crochet (UK = treble) circles from a lovely verigated sockweight cashmere, with a brown 4-ply wool border. I wish it was cool enough to wear! (very hot out at the moment)

more pictures and details on my yarn blog http://slippedstitch.blogspot.com

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / hedera socks from spring knitty on: May 06, 2006 06:10:34 AM

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / easy pretty knitted necklace (beaded icord - includes link to tutorial) on: April 25, 2006 04:08:45 AM

Possibilities are endless, works with most yarns.

The pattern is basically the title - you bead icord. but there are some tips on my knitting blog:

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / felted cable on: April 05, 2006 05:21:35 PM

A friend of mine has this theory there are few things in the world that can't be inproved by a cable. I was useing a leftover half ball of tweed to do a felted case for my new electronic diary and I thought I'd throw a simple cable in, test this theory out.

I wasn't sure how it'd work out, this was really just a test run, but I like it. Next time I'll try with with wool that gives a better stitch definition and work a more complex cable.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / lovemeknot socks (incl link to free pattern) on: March 22, 2006 10:04:55 AM
Illusion knit socks, its the next big thing, I tell you.

he loves me, he loves me not...

You have no idea how much fun these are, I keep going on tip-toes so I can see the hearts.

Pattern written up here (you have to click on the images to get to the pattern proper)

EDIT (aug, 2006): I've made similar ones using my DNA illusion chart - have a look
