703  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Birthday month swap on: February 21, 2006 05:46:10 PM

Well, I'm a January, the 11th to be exact, and I get the combo gift, Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday! Argh! My parents even tried having a brithday-and-a-half party in teh summers for me but none of the other family members would go for it and my brother, OH! don't get me started, his brithday is in August, and everybody's wallets are fat and it's all sunny out, and there's perfect weather for a party, and...(but really I'm not bitter ;P...)

Mine's January 5th and the same thing happens to me. *that's if anybody remembers at all!* Maybe we should have a "very merry half birthday" swap in the summer for all us "birthday ignored due to winter holidays" kids. what do ya think?

Wink I'm not bitter either... no, really  Tongue
704  COOKING / Dessert / Re: no more chocolate chip cookies on: February 21, 2006 05:21:53 PM
I'm surprised nobody's replied yet.
Deserts are my most favorite thing to make  Cheesy so here's a couple for ya:

Frozen Cranberry Banana Salad

1 20oz. can pineapple tidbits
5 medium firm bananas (halved and sliced)
1 16oz. can whole-berry cranberry sauce
1/2 cup sugar
1 12oz. carton thawed cool whip
1/2 cup chopped nuts
*the fruit and the nuts can be changed to whatever you fancy*

Drain pineapple juice into a bowl with the banana slices. In another large bowl, combine cranberry sauce and sugar. remove bananas from pineapple juice and add to cranberry mixture. Discard juice. Stir in all other ingredients. Pour into  13x9x2 inch dish. Freeze until solid. Remove 15 minutes before serving.

Coconut Pineapple Sandwiches
1 14oz. bag of shredded coconut, toasted
2/3 cup sugar
3 TBSP melted butter
2 slightly beaten eggs
1 can pineapple tidbits
cool whip

Stir together coconut and sugar. Mix in melted butter and then eggs until combined. Make 36  2 1/2" thin rounds on baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350F for 9-10 minutes. Once cool, spread on whipped cream and sprinkle some pineapple on half, cover with other cookie and there you go. Makes 18 but you can half the recipe if you want less.

I'll try to find more recipes for you later...

Ok I can hopefully represent a small part of the UK Smiley
Does US have pringles :s
You seem to have evrything Cheesy
Will catch up later

yeah, we've got pringles.
But you guys have T.U.Ks (boots) that I can't seem to find here in the states.
Personally, I think getting anything from the U.K. would be rad. even something as simple as a postcard!

Sounds rad!
but I'm from the boring west coast. (although it does mean we've got ghiridelli & guittard  Wink)
you might run into the problem of too many Americans/ not enough people from other countries

710  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: DMC Floss on sale at Michaels this week on: February 19, 2006 07:49:56 PM
it might be a regional thing because ours has them at 4 for $1 (lame. Roll Eyes)
Joanne's has them for 5 for $1
They might be even cheaper at walmart; i'm not sure.
