I was looking through your thread "a few more of my cakes" and decided to click on your profile and check out your other pictures and found this one - great job!  I love the carriage and your talent!
5253  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / I need help making my veggies more interesting! on: February 22, 2007 06:34:43 PM
Sorry if something like this has been asked already - I did a search and couldn't find anything but it may still be out there.

My family and I are getting tired of eating plain old beans, peas, corn, etc.  I've looked in my recipe books and found a few recipes for making them more interesting.  I'm sure someone (or maybe many someones) can tell me what I can do with these plain veggies to make them more interesting.

About the only things my family won't eat is squash or mushrooms but any other recipes or tips are appreciated!

Your quilt is beautiful - I love the colors you picked.

The binding was difficult.  Any suggestions for a novice quilter?

Is the binding 2 different materials (purple on the back and yellow on the front)?  That's couldn't have been easy to make!  I would suggest you make a smaller border, it's easier to work with.  Also trying googling quilt borders and you should come up with some great tutorials - I did and learned some new and time saving techniques.

Adorable!  How big (or small) are they?

I love your piggy!  I have his brother sitting on my dresser - I received it from Esmerelda in an Ongoing Swap - I can't believe how much alike they look  Grin
5258  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Anyone have Pattern Suggestions for my REALLY long road trip on: February 22, 2007 06:01:49 PM
I like the blanket suggestion - that's what I have done on long trips.  You could do a giant granny square afghan.

We went on a holiday 2 summers ago and were gone 14 days and in that time I had most of an afghan finished.

Great job on the girly afghan - what a fortunate couple that you are giving them 2 afghans!

I agree with the rest, I'd do the larger stripes in green.
5260  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Idea for improving the swap process? on: February 22, 2007 05:21:13 PM

Then, for the whole rating thing...I am the organizer of the apron swap who decided to match people up based upon their skill level.  Now, I did not label the swappers...they chose which level of skill they felt like they had.  The novices were happy that they were paired with people on their own level because it eased the swap stress.  Of course, the Experts who have been sewing for 25 years were thrilled that they would be receiving an apron of equal quality work.

I used the following four levels:

No Experience, Moderate Experience, Experienced and Expert

That's a great idea!  I would love to see something like that in more swaps.
