4861  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Sweat shop swap (SSS) round 9! Closed on: June 22, 2007 01:27:09 PM

i am just wondering if any of you fabulous craftsters have any thoughts about what polymer clay goodies you want me to offer for Round 10?!

I agree with penguino that summer treats would be great.  I'd also like 'cute' vegetables like corn, peas, carrots (what I mean by cute is with faces.)  I'd also like to see them as magnets.

I received a fantastic parcel from ZaftigMomma today!  Wow, do I feel spoiled.

When I opened the box to get out my parcel (there were actually 4 of them today), I saw this unusual shape wrapped in paper.  "Hmm, I thought, kinda looks like a hat box, I wonder what's in it."  After unwrapping all the red strapping tape, this is what I found:

I could hardly wait to get home to take a picture so I could empty the box and see what all kinds of candy there were.  Look at it all!!

any kind I could imagine and then some - even edible paper which I've never heard of.

The orange fabric is going to be added to the collection for my son's quilt and that candy is going to be added to my tummy  Grin  (over a long stretch of time, of course!) and I'm going to find a good use for the box, too.  Can never have enough fancy boxes!

2 adorable amigurumi arrived at my house today from cindy_23492.

A cute little teddy complete with shawl and an albino pig! (at least that's what I'm calling it) which is #7 in my collection.

I am now 5/5 and I must say I LOVE this swap! and can't wait for the next round to start.

The last 3 items I received:

Grab and Go crochet travel accessories from dragonslair, 4 polymer clay donuts from Kishcrafts and a painted FQ (on the right) and purchased FQ from Christal1994.

Thanks to everyone who sent to me!

That's cool!  I saw it under the "Hot new projects from all categories' on the home page and it really caught my attention.

I love how vibrant and random it is.

I claim Atsuko for:

mushroom fabric and I'll PM you about something else.

This is my 5th claim (3 received and 1 in the mail).

I live in Alberta, Canada and despite what everyone thinks - it's not that expensive to send to Canada (way cheaper than me sending to the US)

This is my biggest wish right now - I have themes in my house and just put out my summer items and realized I'm in need of some more things for this season.  For summer I have summer flowers, vegetables and little boys (let me explain that one - I made 3 little boys out of wood and one is holding a sail boat, one is with his dog and one is playing in a puddle, plus I have a stuffed boy holding a bat and ball).  So, if you want to make me something out of wood, cross stitch, painted or whatever else you can think of that features either summer flowers, little boys or vegetables please! I'd be thrilled.  I have enough items for my shelf so whatever you make should be able to hang on the wall.

Orange cotton fabric that's not too girly.  I'm starting to collect fabric to make my oldest son a quilt and orange is his favorite color - FQ minimum/piece, please

Cotton fabric with craft related theme - FQ minimum/piece, please

Cotton fabric with these themes -  ice cream cones, popsicles, chocolate bars, other candies, (okay, basically any kind of 'junk' food but no fruits and veggies as I have lots of those already) -  FQ minimum/piece please

Knit fingerless gloves in black or navy blue or dark green - I wear a ladies size large

Some tea towels with toppers on them so I can hang them from my stove.  Sewn, knit or crochet toppers are great and any color except black for the toppers and white for the tea towels.

I have plans to make this doll http://www.paradisedolls.com/p083.html (except mine will have silver accents rather than gold) and I'm still in the collecting stage so, I'm looking for:
     - any silver charms that would suit this dress (such as scissors, brush, mirror, etc.)
     - silver old fashioned buttons with pearls in the center,

I have a very small wist list but feel free to check it out!

An amigurumi teddy bear (really small), penguin or pig (small)

Tigger or Eeyore crocheted in thread (I can even provide the pattern)

I've been know to stall this swap on this round for some strange reason so, if I do, I'll try to add more stuff if I can think of it.
4867  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 12" Crochet Square of the Month Craftalong - JUNE on: June 21, 2007 08:07:35 AM
I just wanted to let you all know that we are going to be on holidays from June 23 - July 2nd so I won't have July's squares on the board until after we get back.  I have them picked out and I'm going to take the patterns and yarn with me to try them before posting.

I'm still working on June's squares and can't stand the feeling of being 'behind'.  I also don't like the mistakes I'm finding in the experienced square but, thankfully, I've been able to figure them out.  That will teach me for not trying the squares before I post them  Grin
4868  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Log Cabin Layouts?? on: June 20, 2007 01:51:00 PM
Oh great, more choices!

I think I have to change my vote from #2 to McJulie-O's first suggestion (with the stripes).

#2 is the best layout, in my opinion.

I was wondering about the "eye-spy" theme-- so the blue patch on bottom right would be something like "I spy a monkey, what do you see?"

Not quite like that (I know you can't see that square very good but it's actually the Cat in the Hat).  Here's what I plan to do:

I sat down with the quilt and found 30 items on it that a child and/or parent and child can look for and then I'm planning to make that into an alphabetized list, cover it with plastic and give it with the quilt.

Here's an 'example' list for the following 2 squares (can you find them all)

I Spy:

pitchfork          mouse eating corn          backpack
weathervane    ruler                             3 chickens
hammer           horse                            clock
crayons

When you have an entire quilt to look over, it takes awhile to find everything.  I realize that when a baby is very small the quilt is just something pretty for them to look at but as they grow older, it becomes educational in a fun way!
