What a beautiful quilt, lovely story and fantastic keepsake!

Pinwheels continue to be my favorite pattern.

Okay.  apparantly I am the great big slacker here since I have yet to start crafting for this and both of my partners have!  Okay. tomorrow. first thing tomorrow.  heat up the thread and needles... we are going to start cooking!   Cheesy

You're not slacking - I just have 3 days off and wanted to get things going.

Hmmm...thread, needles and cooking - this should be interesting  Grin

I know what I'm making and today I finished my first project but don't ask me what it is because I told Deb it's all top secret!   Lips sealed

although right now I have gotten a horrendous case of face issues... which is really frustrating. Dang.  I will be 39 in 2 weeks - will it ever end?!!

From one with a few more years experience, NO it won't end  Roll Eyes
4826  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 12" Crochet Square of the Month Craftalong - JULY on: July 10, 2007 04:05:14 PM

General plea for help: I can't get the July Experienced square off the ground, I can't get the math to work out. I even tried drawing it out on paper. Has anyone made it yet?

I wondered when this question was going to hit the board!  I've made the square and ran into trouble too but decided not to say anything and see if others had the same problem I did.

This is what round 2 says:

2: sl st in top of next st in prev rnd. ch-3.  dc in top of next 2 st. work 2 dc, ch-2, 2dc between next 2 st (cluster). *dc in top of next 3 st. work cluster between next 2 st. repeat from * twice. sl st in top of ch-3 to join. (3 st btwn corners)

The only way I could get it to work properly was to modify it this way:

2:  sl st in top of next st in prev rnd.  ch-3.  dc in top of next 2 st.  work 2 dc, ch-2, 2dc between next 2 st (cluster), SKIP NEXT DC, *dc in top of next 3 st. work cluster between next 2 st. repeat from * twice, sl st in top of ch-3 to join.

I'll give you another hint - the designer is not consistent on what she wants you to do - in some rounds you have to skip a dc after doing a cluster or group of stitches and in other rounds you don't.  I found I had to count step by step down the first side on each round to figure out what she was asking for.

That's why I called it experienced - I have to give you all some challenges!   Grin

I'm finished my bags!

This is one of them - they are all approximately 12" x 12" and are fully lined.

Along with the BLUE and white stripes, these patterns are also available:

Okay, I now feel ancient - those parts you received xladyluckx look like the parts from the typewriter I learned to type on in grade 10!
