591  Re: Swap a yard of fabric swap - February in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Homerof2 on: January 31, 2007 08:47:05 AM
I have now been approved for this swap and so I'm ready to make my first claim.  Hopefully I do this right!  I would like the following from ShaynaYasha:

A FQ of Tropical Rain Forest
A FQ of Colorful Starburst
A 1/2 yard of Soft Pastel Baby

This is what I have to offer:

Orange and purple flowers (it looks vintage but it's brand new) - cotton - FQ
Yellow and white stripes with blue flowers - I believe this is cotton - I have 2 FQ of this (not a 1/2 yard - they are 2 seperate pieces)
Medium green with dark green fuzzy designs - I don't know what kind of fabric this is as I received it in another swap and the
sender didn't know what it was.  It's smooth on the back and the dark green designs are raised on the front.  PM me if you want more details.  FQ

White with blue polka dots - cotton - 1/2 yard or FQ
White with blue stripes - cotton - 1 yard (I will divide this up so if you only want a FQ or 1/2 yard, that is fine)

Multi colored stripes - cotton - FQ
Crayon material - cotton - FQ
White flowers on a green background - cotton - 1/2 yard or FQ

Lime green with lines and flowers - cotton - FQ
Black with white and red flowers - cotton - FQ

Grey fabric with game pieces - t-shirt fabric - the main part of this fabric measures 17.5" x 27" (we will call it a FQ) and then there is a little extra that is 13" x 9" (if you can see the little yellow paper on the fabric, you can see the shape of the fabric - the FQ is the large part and the extra is the part sticking up)
Grey waffle material - t-shirt fabric - 30" wide tube x 1 yard long (so if you cut the tube open, it would be 60" wide fabric)

I received from Modus Operandi today and let me say, this girl has TALENT!

Enclosed in the package was the cutest little box in the world!  She knew that I liked tulips and so she painted one on this box (both on the top and running down the side) and even included a very tiny ladybug.  The box is about 1 1/2" tall and has a 2" diameter, so it's small but oh, so adorable.

Here's a side view:

and a top view:

Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to introduce to you ALICE!  She is the creation of Eliea and now resides at my house.

The first picture of her is in her 'birthday suit' (and I think her expression shows her alarm at me showing this picture) Grin  and in the second, she is modeling the wonderful scarf that came along with her (it's to help keep her warm during the cold Canadian winters.)

Isn't she adorable?

594  Needle box (with a twist) in Completed Projects by Homerof2 on: January 15, 2007 04:02:16 PM
Added Nov. 29, 2007 - I was back at this same craft show and bought another kit and the designers told me they now have a website.  It's http://needleboxesetc.com/

In December I was at a large craft show and came across a booth with a product I had never seen before.  They offered either the completed project or the pattern to make one.  Being the crafty person I am (and cheap), I decided to buy the pattern and make it myself.

The lady who sold it to me said that it should take about 4 hours (but it took me way longer) and the only thing I needed to provide was the material and white craft glue.  There is no sewing involved in this, just gluing

This is the outside of my needle box

From the side:

This is called a six sided box and they had many more patterns - a light house, outhouse, bird house, dog house, 8 sided box, 4 sided box and ones they call grandma and grand-daughter boxes.  I think I'm going to be ordering more from them!

595  Re: Ongoing Offer What You Have (Crafts/Supplies) Swap - Dec. 24-Jan. 24 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Homerof2 on: January 12, 2007 06:51:50 AM
I would like to claim ZombieFlesh for:

6. Knitted wristwarmers, colour of your choice.

This is my third and final claim for this round.

Here is what I have to offer this time:

1)  Gold doily (made by me) and framed in a metal ring - great for hanging on the wall!

2)  5 partial balls of cotton yarn - some balls are almost complete and some are just less than 1/2

3)  Blue t-shirt material (approximate size is 52" long x 60" wide)

4)  I will make 3 crochet squares - you pick the color and size, I will pick the pattern.  These pictures are all of 12" squares and are just so you can see what I can make:

5)  I will crochet a panta - just tell me what color you want and your head measurement.

6)  A beaded necklace like this one - you pick the 3 colors.

7) I am in the process of crocheting this scarf (just for the fun of it) and I'd love to send it to a good home.
It will measure approximately 4 1/2" x 50" and can have a fringe or not (you decide).

(I should add that the orange is not quite so bright as this picture shows it - it's much nicer)

596  Re: 2007 Color Craft-A-Long in Craftalongs by Homerof2 on: January 10, 2007 01:22:12 PM
As the saying goes, I'm 'killing 2 birds with 1 stone' this month!  I needed to make a crochet square and since it didn't matter the color I decided to buy some rainbow yarn and use that.

This was made with Red Heart Strata, which I have never seen before, and though I am happy with the outcome, it wasn't what I expected.  'Normal' variegated yarn doesn't have such large sections of the same color like this one did (row 4 is almost totally the same color.)  I think I'd like to buy another ball of it and try a scarf since it's designed to work out into stripes.

I actually received another FANTASTIC package today and this one was from esmerelda - it's the most adorable amigurumi pig in the entire world!

And with a face like this, who couldn't love her  Grin

I put down small amigurumis on a whim for this swap but now I think I'm going to start collecting them and what a great beginning!

I received a FANTASTIC 1/2 apron from artsiefartsie today!  The color is perfect, she used quilt squares, which is also perfect and on and on I could go - can you tell I love it  Grin  I even broke down and took an action shot (but it's well cropped)

Oops, I forgot to say that it's also reversable - the green on the ties and waistband make up the whole back but I don't think I could bear to ever cover up the front

600  Re: Quilt Block of the Month Craftalong in Craftalongs by Homerof2 on: January 04, 2007 05:33:53 PM
Since I already had the sewing machine out to make the December square I thought I would also piece the top together.

This is as far as I'm going now although I do plan to put a border on it and finish it someday but, for now, I am working on a quilt for our bed and another one for my cousins son.

I found it hard to get good pictures - in this shot the blocks are:

Upper row (L to R)  January - April
Middle row (L or R)  May - August
Bottom row (L to R) September - December

This is just a different angle:

So, although I am only going this far for now, it doesn't mean I'm going to quit watching this board.  I can't wait to see the blocks you all have left to make and also to see other finished products.

This has been a very fun craft-a-long and I'm so glad I found it (even though I had to catch up a few months.)  Thanks crazy_bc_jen for organizing this!!!
