I received a fantastic crochet hook holder from Dulcinea today.  The material couldn't suit me better and it holds over 40 hooks!!  Just a few more and I can have it full  Grin

Here's a picture of it closed:

and open - it's made like a book with pages that you flip and on the inside front cover, there is a zippered pocket.

I get to be the first person to show off my goodies for this round  Grin

gatheredthreads sent me some green and orange fabric (and now she's curiuos about what I'm making but, at this time, I'm not telling!)

The colors are really much more vivid than this and I love them!

I've been wanting to learn origami for awhile and so I asked for some supplies during this swap and faerykisses fulfilled my wish.  She sent me a fantastic book (and I know I'm going to spend hours and hours with it) and some paper.

THANKS so much!

584  Re: 2007 Color Craft-A-Long in Craftalongs by Homerof2 on: March 06, 2007 06:52:58 PM
Last year, just after joining Craftster, I made a bag and sent it off on a swap.  I loved the bag and it was hard to part with but I knew I had enough material and planned some day to make my own.  Well, it never got done but in January when I found this craft-a-long and saw that March was green, I knew that would be the month I would make my bag.  I don't have a picture of the lining but it's green too!

and a close up of the fabric, which I totally love!

I received today from seamshistoric!  She double filled my wish by sending me 2 piggies!  They are adorable and make the cutest couple!

This now makes 4 pigs I've received the last few months......almost a collection!

I received a package from CraftyDeb today - she picked me for an amigurumi pig but the package that arrived held MUCH more than that.

Here's the cutie she made:

and, some of the other goodies:

2 sunflower hotmats (which I'll actually use for decorations in my fall theme), a wonderful stitched teacup (being framed to hang with my teapots), some fantastic teacup fabric (a new table covering) and great pens.

What's not in the pictures are 2 bottles of hot sauce she sent for my hubby to add to his collection.

THANKS DEB!!! for everything.  You have once again spoiled us  Grin

587  My Purple and Yellow Quilt is finally finished!!! in Quilting: Completed Projects by Homerof2 on: February 23, 2007 02:30:57 PM
Must tell the story behind this quilt before I post pictures.

About the time I joined Craftster in January, 2006, I decided I wanted to make a queen sized quilt for our bedroom.  Being that it's purple and yellow/gold, I decided that the quilt had to be those colors also.  I wasn't sure how I was ever going to pay for this since I was sure it would take lots of funds.  I knew what pattern I wanted to use so it was just a matter of deciding on fabric.  Well, it wasn't long after starting on Craftster that I discovered swapping and fabric swapping at that!  I had quite a bit of fabric I had inherited from my aunt and decided that I was going to swap it to get the fabric for my quilt.  So the process began.  I joined fabric swaps and soon discovered ongoing swaps and made collecting yellow and purple fabric my 'obsession.'  It was funny but word seemed to spread that I was looking for these colors because soon people started to PM me and offer purple and yellow fabric that they had and I noticed more and more of these colors showing up in the fabric swaps  Grin

I had a blast over about 5 months collecting my fabric and I'm happy to say that I have a very international quilt!

In the end, I used 21 different yellows and 23 different purples.

I decided that I would save all the names of people who had sent me fabric and I want to say a HUGE thanks to:

heroinechic             qazicat                lamamarco
fadeawaydream       kaesea                 mata
simplyfussfree         sunshyndzyne       sonjaboo
ilovepaper              sewcrafty             superstitch

Now, on to the pictures!

This is the quilt pieced together and laying on my living room floor just before I started pinning it:

A close-up of one corner so you can see more detail:

The sewing process - not an easy thing on a regular sewing machine! and not easy taking a picture of myself sitting in the chair!

and, finally, on my bed (the colors are more true in the top photo - today was bright and sunny and it washed the color out some)

This is the first queen sized quilt I have ever made and will probably be the last - I think I'll stick to baby sized ones but I'm sure glad I did make this one  Grin

Last week, just before heading out of town for a longweekend, I received a package from gatheredthreads (formerly artsiefartsie.)  She sent me this beautiful quilted pillow cover:

And, as an added bonus, she also included a book on folding origami boxes and some paper.

589  Re: 2007 Color Craft-A-Long in Craftalongs by Homerof2 on: February 05, 2007 07:16:25 AM
As I said earlier in this thread, red is not a color I use to craft so coming up with an idea was hard.  After a few weeks of thinking, I finally came up with a small sewing project.  I cut it all out and started sewing, however, my heart was not in it and therefore it wasn't fun.  I thought, what in the world am I doing, making something I won't use and don't know who to give it to, so..........I threw the whole thing away.  I know, I can hear all your gasps now but don't worry, the entire project used less than a FQ of material so it wasn't that bad  Grin

Now I had to come up with another idea so I went back to my old faithful, crochet, and decided to make a dishcloth.  There was no way I was going to just make a plain one and post it here, not after seeing all the creative items already on this thread.  So, off I went to search the net for an interesting pattern and since it was February, I concentrated on a heart shape and this is what I came up with:

Next month I am going to make something non-crochet!  I am!

590  Re: Swap a yard of fabric swap - February in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Homerof2 on: February 01, 2007 11:06:39 AM
I claim from xladyluckx the following:

1/2 yard horns on black
1/2 yard orange/brown/black cheetah

This is my second claim.

This is what I have to offer - it is all new fabric and most of it has not been washed.

Orange and purple flowers (it looks vintage but it's brand new) - cotton - FQ
Yellow and white stripes with blue flowers - I believe this is cotton - I have 2 FQ of this (not a 1/2 yard - they are 2 seperate pieces)
Medium green with dark green fuzzy designs - I don't know what kind of fabric this is as I received it in another swap and the
sender didn't know what it was.  It's smooth on the back and the dark green designs are raised on the front.  PM me if you want more details.  FQ

White with blue polka dots - cotton - FQ
White with blue stripes - cotton - 1 yard (I will divide this up so if you only want a FQ or 1/2 yard, that is fine)

Multi colored stripes - cotton - FQ
Crayon material - cotton - FQ
White flowers on a green background - cotton - FQ

Lime green with lines and flowers - cotton - FQ
Black with white and red flowers - cotton - FQ

Grey fabric with game pieces - t-shirt fabric - the main part of this fabric measures 17.5" x 27" (we will call it a FQ) and then there is a little extra that is 13" x 9" (if you can see the little yellow paper on the fabric, you can see the shape of the fabric - the FQ is the large part and the extra is the part sticking up)
Grey waffle material - t-shirt fabric - 30" wide tube x 1 yard long (so if you cut the tube open, it would be 60" wide fabric)
