541  Re: 2007 Color Craft-A-Long in Craftalongs by Homerof2 on: May 30, 2007 08:15:02 AM
As I said earlier this month, my project was going to be very simple.  I decided against using anything metal to craft with since that's just not my 'thing', instead I used gold colored paper.  I'm just learning to do origami and so I thought I would try it for this month.  The hardest part of this entire process was trying to get a decent picture.  I've discovered gold paper is not very forgiving so every little crease shows up, even when you don't want it to!

May I present my gold suit (made with just one piece of paper):

I know that black is not a color this month but since it was so hard to get a decent picture of the gold, I wanted to show the black suit I made as it's a much better example:

542  3 1/2 dozen jars! in Quilting: Completed Projects by Homerof2 on: May 28, 2007 07:00:56 AM
Let me start out by saying a huge THANKS to kitty1256 for all the help she gave me when I first started this quilt last fall.  Not only for the great tutorial but also for answering all my extra questions  Grin

This is the second of two quilts I was asked to make for my cousin's sons.  The majority of the material came from his late mother's stash and it's meant to be a keepsake reminder of the boys' grandma.

My original idea was to make an eye spy quilt but when I saw kitty1256's jar quilt, I knew I just had to incorporate the eye spy and jars together.

The little guy this was made for has Canadian parents but was born in the US so I had to include material from both countries.  Not sure if you can pick them out or not but there is one jar full of maple leaves and another full of the American flag.  There are also parrots, frogs, bugs, crayons, eyes, stars, fishing hooks, etc.

One of my favorite jars:

I'll show them since I remembered to take pictures.

It's a BAG!!! for when she goes visiting  Grin   Big enough for the essentials but not big enough that it looks like she is moving in.

I wanted to use black material but since I didn't have enough of one kind, I made it 2 sided.  The handles are nylon.

Side one,

Side two,

I also received a package today from vee_power.

More great orange fabric and some very yummy candy:

This piece was so interesting that I thought it deserved it's own picture - the design along the bottom is also along the top but didn't get into the picture (I may have to find a different use for this than in the quilt since it will be hard to cut it up):

I now have 10 pieces of material for the quilt!!

I received today from ChristinaCoghill !!

She sent me this most adorable amigurumi pig.  It's now the 5th in my collection and the first sitting one.

So, that wraps this swap up - thanks everyone for participating.  Hopefully someone else will take on the challenge of running another round.

vee-power received from me this week and since I have pictures, I thought I would post them.

I sent her a roll to hold her paint brushes.  Here's a picture rolled up:

I received two wonderful pieces of craft related fabric from gavagai on Friday.  She also included some delicious candy (which isn't in the picture as most of it is gone!)

Last week I received a wonderful swap journal from travelbug!

It's got lots of room for swaps and I especially like the folded paper bird on the front.  She also sent 4 gel pens for writing in it.

THANKS travelbug!

550  Re: Cover a 14" Pillow gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by Homerof2 on: May 09, 2007 07:00:20 PM
I received a beautiful pillow cover today from Scatter Kincaid:

It's a very nice shade of green with 3 sunflowers stitched on one corner.  The back closure is kind of like an envelope flap with 3 buttons.
