512  Re: Alas poor Yorick! **now with a pattern!!** in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Homerof2 on: September 18, 2007 01:41:06 PM
This is so totally not my kind of crochet but when I saw it, I just knew I had to make it for my partner in a swap.  She wanted a stuffy and she liked skulls, so how could I not.

As you can see, I used buttons instead of roses (it was a bargain hunter swap and I was limited in my spending.)

Thanks for sharing the pattern, it allowed me to try something totally off the wall for me  Grin

I, too, received an elephant for this round.  May I introduce to you Cordelia, who was knit by TreeTree.

She was very hard to get a good photo of (maybe she's camera shy!)

I received some wonderful washcloths from Kayrun today.  They are all very nice and if you look closely at the bottom of the pink one, you can see a butterfly!

I'm now 5/5 and already planning what to make for the next round  Grin

515  Anne of Green Gables in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Homerof2 on: August 16, 2007 07:15:42 AM
I was discussing my crafting love with a lady at work a few days ago and I told her I would bring in my photo album to show her some of my work.  As I was flipping through it deciding which pictures to take out (some of my first and horrible items), I came across a picture of a doll I made back in '04.  Since we didn't have a digital 'back then', I only had a regular picture but I found out you can take digital pictures of regular ones and here's the result:

I made her for a doll exchange I did with another group and I've always been sorry since that I gave her away.  The entire doll, minus the straw hat is crochet.

I should look and see if I still have the pattern.  I did find the website I purchased her pattern from but it appears that she's no longer available (or maybe I just couldn't find her.)

I have received 2 more packages so I'm now 4/5!

Cupcakes from skitterflex

and, from LuxieLou, a beautiful daisy pendant (which looks way better in real life - I think the close up on my camera made it look blotchy, which it isn't)

517  Re: 2007 Color Craft-A-Long in Craftalongs by Homerof2 on: August 15, 2007 09:24:24 AM
I have a huge orange project planned for next month (a quilt for my oldest son) but wasn't sure what I was going to do this month.  I decided to try some more origami so I turned to my origami-a-day calendar for some patterns.  Then I searched the house and came up with enough orange origami paper plus some additional orange craft paper and made these 2 items.

           A Pagoda

It's hard to tell from this picture but the bottom section is the largest and each section gets smaller.

and a Wedding Noshi (the little note with it said that the tortoise and the crane are symbols of good fortune)

This one was fairly hard to do since it started with a piece of paper 5 1/2" square and ended up around 2 1/2" square and, as you can see, my folds weren't the greatest but it was fun and that's what matters  Grin

I received 2 packages in one today.  I had Maremare312 on my top 5 list twice and her items came today.

Fantastic!  I love everything - oh, the wonderful smells  Grin

519  Floral Photos in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Homerof2 on: July 23, 2007 09:05:24 AM
A few years ago I started taking pictures of flowers (with my regular film camera) and enlarging those I liked, framing them and hanging them in our bedroom.  Well, this summer my husband decided to join me and he too started taking pictures (with a digital.)  These are a few that we have taken this summer.  Comments and critiques are welcome.

This single peony grows in our front yard and is only nice for about 1 week each year.  I try to take a good picture every year and when I headed out with the camera a few weeks ago, there was this enormous bee flying around.  With some patience and nerve, I got close enough to take this picture.  Unfortunately on here the picture doesn't show as well as on my computer screen but I love how the pollen shows up on the bee's back.

This is the center of a marigold and if you look in the upper left hand corner, you will spot a little green bug.  We didn't even realize the bug was in the picture until we got home and loaded the pictures onto the computer.

I'm not even sure what kind of flower this is but the detail that showed up of the center
        of the flower is wonderful!

This pansy also grows in my front yard

I'm actually amazed at how well digital cameras take close ups.  I was alway of the mind that they couldn't do as well as a 'regular' camera but I'm now sold on the fact they can!

520  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 23 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Homerof2 on: July 23, 2007 08:41:10 AM
I received this wonderful orange fabric from Mini a few weeks ago and finally am getting around to posting pictures.

I think I have enough now to make my son's quilt - now just to decide on a pattern!
