1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Blank Slate Craft Room on: March 06, 2006 11:19:12 AM
Well my husband love that man lol, said i can have "craft room" lol i put it in quotes because it must also house a tv, ps2, and futon, but other than that its all mine!

Heres my Glowfoto album that has pictures of the room http://www.glowfoto.com/users2/cebslb4ever/view.php?aid=5534

Okay heres what it has a closet which already has thanks to a great deal and great husband some hanging organizers for my yarns and fabrics, small things that will fit in the cubbies.  A window seat area, i really want to use this but im not sure how, it doesnt even have to be used as a widow seat, I love the view out of it and its a good natural light place.   A small section of wall next to the closet, i was thinking about the yard stick shelf just in 12in rulers instesad of yard sticks.

Heres what i have to furnish so far, a futon dark wood with a blue denim cover. 27 inch television on a medium darkness wood stand( can be replaced). I have 2 48'in brand new bookcases in a light wood color. Short enought to put stuff in and on top of, not to many books actually have to go in these, mostly playstation books and craft books.

What i would like to see/do.

I definitly want to use the denim blue on the futon as my tie together color, i want everything to have at least so tie to that color. I cant paint but i can hang things on the walls.  I want to have art work but mostly functional/decorative artwork.  I have large folding craft table that i only put out when i need it but i am thinking of getting something smaller to house a sewing machine and use for table top crafts. If you have ideas for that.

My style, im not into ikea stuff, mostly comfy warm colors. Nothing minimalistic.  I guess what im asking for is ways to  have functional useable artwork. I plan on using the room for sewing, knitting,bookmaking/reconning, jewelry making, and Using my laptop.

Also any ideas you have. This is the first house im actually decorating because we plan on staying here 3 years.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My First 2 finished objects very image heavy on: March 02, 2006 02:35:50 PM
Ive been teaching myself to knit for about a week now, and wanted to just make a couple small things to start.

First is my is a wrist cuff-let. Due to some prior injuries i have wrist pain when every i do anything with a lot of repetative motion so i have to take breaks, this cuff-let holds my needles quite well..

Its knitted in a simple garter stitch on number 8s and i just dropped two sitches on both ends to hold the tails to tie it together loosely.

Next is a knitted keychain again a simple garter stitch on 8s with some dropped stitches and yarn over to break up the boringness. I k2tog a few times toward the end just to bring it to a point and knotted it on a large keyring.

3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Liquid Starch Paper Marbling on: February 02, 2006 08:04:22 AM
Ive been experimenting with marbling on paper using liquid starch as a size. This is right up my alley because the most expensive part was the paint and i got a big set for only $8.00 Everything else came from the dollar store except the cardstock i had on hand.  This is just a small sample since i find this relaxing in the past five days ive done over 100 sheets, even though it was just an experiment.  I plan on making a journal with some of it.

My little ham oreo had to sneak into some of the pictures.
4  California / California: South / Anyone in Ridgecrest,Trona,Inyokern...area on: January 24, 2006 12:53:00 PM
I know this maybe a long shot lol, since most people have never heard of ridgecrest, trona, or inyokern. But im looking to get together with some fellow crafters in the area. hopefully on a regular basis since i dont work, i have to get out of the house sometimes....Im starting to learn to knit, i do a lot of dollar store shopping and reconstructing of things found there. I love all our little shops here in ridgecrest, expecially DART, 99cent mart on balsam and am looking for people to hang out with our craft with.
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Fancied up dollar store journals on: January 21, 2006 06:09:36 PM
Today was craft day with my neighbors granddaughter a tradition for us.

So we went an bought these cute little spiral journals from the dollar store, some scrapbooking paper, some stones we had for another project and fake flower, also glitter glue from other projects.

I think all together we probably spent $3.00 total on both...excluding mod podge and hot glue but for a quick craft they turned out fairly well,,and she was thrilled about it.

6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Square Cracker Tins on: January 19, 2006 12:09:40 PM
I have 5 of these cracker tins from Sky flakes they are square with circular openings and the lids come completely out and i dont have the lids anymore. They look very retro in there shape to me and i wanted to make some kind of organizer for the garage where my crafts are, i just have a block as to how to do it.

Heres a couple pictures....
