1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / help with rockstar themed birthday on: September 21, 2006 09:00:34 AM
Ok...so I'm the first person out of all of my friends to turn 21. So I'm throwing myself my own birthday part. I know, lame, right? But I don't trust my boyfriend with parties so I'm taking it into my own hands. I need ideas for decorations. Sofar what I'm doing is I have all of these old records that were destined to become bowls (bought them for like a few dollars for the whole lot of them) and I was going to spray them gold and hang them on the wall like gold records (this is my boyfriend's idea, his dad works in the recording industry) I have an extremely limited budget. I'm doing like rice crispies and candy since there's a lot of halloween candy for cheap out there. I'm kind of copying some ideas from that new Seventeen magazine out there that suggests dipping white roses into red paint for decor but instead of that I'm doing white or red into black paint with glitter. Any other ideas?
2  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 12 ENTRIES / shiny skull apartment decor on: June 01, 2006 02:40:45 PM

Say hello to my kitchy apartment decorations. I wanted to hang them above my bed but they just look so cute with my books up there I couldn't move them! I built a frame out of gold-painted popsicle sticks (108 were used, plenty more were maimed and glued to make this.) The lightning bolts on the side are made of chenille stems, and the the flowers are wagonwheel pasta painted pink. The skulls hand painted fabric using my favorite metallic fabric acryllic paint. And I added my star-shaped jewels because that's just my style. Thanks a bunch for looking!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / my new number-y dress on: May 29, 2006 01:34:27 PM

I think it may have to be a size smaller next time, what do you think? It's number fabric with a belt. I'm thinking of getting a ribbon to wear with it instead. Thanks for your comments/suggestions!
edit: for some reason photobucket is messing up this photo...I'm so sorry if this is all messed up looking!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / super simple summer skirt on: May 03, 2006 12:52:44 PM
My roommates are moving out and a couple of my friends are graduating and we're going out for dinner and I have nothing to wear so...this was 15 minutes well spend. And it's not a circle skirt, do you think I can spare 5 more minutes on THAT?! It hits me just below my knees (I'm short) and it is HUGE on my dressform, since she's thinner than I am.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / fixing dress form on: April 17, 2006 06:52:17 PM
My mom bought me this old dress form for CHEAP. It has a cute little spring around it, and it seems sturdy and is adjustable. However, it has a rip on the side. How should I go about fixing it, if I can? Or does anyone know where I can (cheaply) get a new cover for it? Thanks in advance! Here's pics!

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / For those that draft patterns... on: March 25, 2006 08:16:50 PM
I have a question for you: On the reccommendation by someone on this board, I reserved "Draping for Apparel Design" and was wondering if I should just do everything in the book or just get the gist of everything? Any special tips? Not sure where to begin...Thanks in advance!
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / two skirts on: March 12, 2006 06:13:44 PM
I can't think if I posted this before. This is my wrap skirt. It's purple flower printed and can close in the front or the back.

I just stuck this skirt in the wash. It's pleated and I had to shorten it a lot because the directions in my sewing book for it made it so long on me it was dragging the floor. I'm sure you can still see the marks from the tailor's chalk on it! It has a button closure-- my first button time doing a buttonhole...oh, and I did that tie dye shirt too weeee!
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Ginormous Circle Skirt on: March 02, 2006 07:23:53 PM
I feel like I'm from the cast of Hairspray...but I kinda like that. Anyways, are people going to mutter "freak" under their breath as I walk by or is it nostangia-y? Disregard the huge plastic bag of mangled doll parts next to me and messed up bed. I'm taking care of that, really.  Grin
9  Florida / Florida: Central / USF Craft Group on: February 28, 2006 07:39:15 PM
So what is up with nobody showing up to our group Tuesday evenings? Do we need to change the time or the day? Is there anyone who plans on not ever showing up again? These past few times it has been only me and a couple other people. Maybe we need to move it to less times per month or maybe move it to the weekend. Suggestions, please!!!
