21  Re: My kid can craft TOO! Swap (3/21/07 to 4/14/07) in The Swap Gallery by valsped on: April 14, 2007 05:44:26 PM
Alex's package arrived Thursday!  We did a personal swap with out boys as well, so those pics are here too, hope noone minds!

Alex with all of his goodies: 2 buggy magnets, a spider, a craft/school supply box with his name and a snake, and finally a bracelet with his name. He's named all the critters (even the snake) and hasn't left them all day!

Steven with his loot: a cool notebook, a noisemaker, and a bracelet and neclace set made with black/red clay beads and clay 'claws' He LOVES it all!!

Alex with his personal swap stuff: a cute cute cute lion door hanger (which he's taken to wearing on his arm!) some animal noise putty - I am shocked, but he adores it (he usually can't stand anything slimy!) and a noise maker.

Both boys and I thank you and your kids a million times!

ValSped's ShopAll items are made by me in a pet and smoke free home!

SHOP SHOP SHOP... at last count there were 45 more things listed that I want!! Smiley I promise to keep the points 'economy' going!

here's what I have to offer[/color]

felted pens: I can also make these in other colors/design of your choice (choose 2)
these two are on blue Bic medium point

this one is on a Paper Mate black medium point

Wet Felted pouch:
dark grey with black edging and swirls/slashes of black on both sides; not exactly the same pattern- it's hand made Wink
note: it is an open pouch at the moment I can add a button closure if you like (or I can send it open and you can sew in a zipper) purple 3x5 index card to judge size

Crochet Mary Jane Slippers:  this darn pattern and I just aren't getting along lately... gotta work on it more before I offer to make more!
similar to these I will make them to your size and color choice (from my massive stash)
Swap Journal:
similar to this, but without embelishments on cover (you choose color/s)

Small (1/4 page) blank journal:
can also be made to your preferences
pic to come this afternoon after I get one done!

crochet/knitting row counter bracelet similar to this:

that one is gone, but I have lots of beads for this type (please excuse the color I think my camera is possessed!!)

Cute little Mousy amigurumi. He's crochet from grey/white verigated mohair (I think) fuzzy yarn! the 3x5 card is for size reference claimed by my friend the queen of all that is asphalt

ENJOY!! Smiley

23  Re: Yarn Swap for Rapunzel Scarf Gallery in The Swap Gallery by valsped on: April 03, 2007 04:24:37 PM
My scarf is finally finished! I LOVE it! It kinda makes me sad that I'm gonna have to buy a new coat (I made it to match) I guess I'll just have to make sure the new one is brown as well so I can still wear the scarf!!
I used most of the yarns sent to me (saved the bright colored ones to include in my round 2 scarf) and some from my stash.  I braided each group (about 21 strands each) and then braided those 3.
enough chatter... on with the pics!

a close up showing how great the ribbon looks (it was pink with brown and blue accents)

an uberclose up shot to show the braided texture

finally the obligatory action shot... with said coat. the colors are most accurate in this shot I think. (not me in the pic... I made my son goofy model 'cause it's spring break and I've been cleaning and refused to have my picture taken)

Prepare to be jealous and amazed by the awesomeness that CraftADDChick sent to me!!!!
First the Crochet hook caddy:
closed with the tag (from the end so you can see the pretty ribbons too)

from the side

opened up, full view

is that not THE COOLETS crochet hook roll EVER!?!?! It's SO much better than the typical ones with a tiny slot for hooks! I can put any size (or several) in each tube and label them!!
next, the notepad. in case you can't read it "crafts to do today" on top and "housework to do today" with one line in the tiny box in the corner

an emergency dish cloth

She also made me a set of Fungi magnets, but I had a such a hard time getting pics that after the 10th try I gave up! They are marble magnets with various forms of Fungi!

SSSQQQUUUUEEEEE!!!!!!! Two Mrs. Frizzle pendants! I can't wait to wear these to our work day at school on the 9th! (we both teach science and have been called the Frizz, so we bonded over her!)

OK, I LOVE LOVE LOVE EVERYTHING in the package but this almost made me cry it's so cute!

A dust critter, complete with species information!
I somehow deleted the group shot with everything... SORRY!
I have to say that I think my partner is the BESTEST in the WHOLE UNIVERSE!!! Everything is awesome, and she even typed little info cards for each item that look TOTALLY professional!

26  Re: PLEASE help me find a pic of a hat on a non-english speaking site? in Felting: Discussion and Questions by valsped on: February 03, 2007 11:26:12 AM
OK the good news... I FOUND THE ELUSIVE PHOTO!!!!
It was in fact on a greman site.
Isn't it silly how when we get an idea in out head we just run with it? It  turns out the the original item was not a hat at all, but a head band. The night I first saw it I also saw other examples of earflap hats, and just morphed the images in my mind I guess!
ANYWAY if anyone cares to see it, here it is:

I highly recomend looking around the site her things are amazing!
I now have the vines and border on the hat finished and will make the roses (and buds)tomorow. Yes, I'll be sure to post pics! (after swap partner receives!!;)
