1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Vintage Tablecloth Quilt on: August 29, 2010 03:04:44 PM
I found this vintage tablecloth at a local thrift store for $2! It was soft enough to be used as a quilt top!

Here is a close up of my favorite little cartoon, the mermaid:

Here's another funny part, the couple divorcing in Carson City:

Thanks for looking!
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Vintage Sheet Quilt on: May 20, 2010 08:37:56 PM
I've been spending a lot of time at thrift stores lately and have started buying up all the vintage sheets I could find to make a quilt.

I decided that since the florals are a little larger, I just did some nice basic squares to show off the deisgns. The cost of ALL the fabric of this quilt totaled $8, which in quilting world is pretty amazing.

The back, it's just one sheet with a pretty design:

Here are a few close up shots of the blocks:

Old sheets are a polyester/cotton blend (newer sheets are mostly cotton) which gives them a really nice touch of coolness so this is a great quilt for summer!

Thanks for looking!
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Quilted Dog Bed on: May 18, 2010 04:12:12 PM

I have two dogs and two cats that love to lay on my quilts so I decided to make them their own bed!

Each color is it's own fabric, I sewed squares together, stacked them and then did a crazy cut to sew back together. I love how it turned out, I like the stained glass effect.

I stuffed it with my husbands old t-shirts so it smells like their Dad! It also weighs it down nicely so they can't drag it around the house. (Why they love to drag stuff is beyond me!)

Here's a semi-action shot of my dog Rosie:

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / The Box of Dreams (Super Pic Heavy) on: February 23, 2010 08:11:18 PM
This is a project that I've been working on for the past few weeks but finally finished this week. I've been looking for a way to display all of my whimsies that I've gotten from all the whimsy swaps that I've participated in here on Craftster.  Grin

I took closeups of each partition. Here we go!

More details on my blog! Thanks for looking!
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Quilted Needle Book on: February 02, 2010 10:47:02 AM
First, I couldn't figure out where this project belonged. Since the cover is quilted, I chose here!

Here is my new needle book to house all the needles I'd ever need.

The cover which is pieced from vintage bed sheets and decorated with kanzashi.

The inside pages are a wool/acrylic blend felt and the closure is a basic purse snap.

I hope you like it!
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Super Tiny Matryoshka's on: January 28, 2010 05:50:47 PM

I made a mold from molding putty off of a real matryoshka doll and then filled the mold with plaster to form these. Each one is handpainted with a super tiny rhinestone at her collar.

They're all different and measure just under an inch and a half!

I think I'm going to dremel a little hole in the top of a few to hang from necklaces and keychains.

What do you think? What else can I do with these?
8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Doll Tea Party! on: January 12, 2010 08:35:04 PM

I staged a little photo shoot tonight with some vintage dolls that I had and wanted to share the pictures!

And here's a Happy New Years shot!

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Beaded Bouquet of Flowers on: January 03, 2010 07:01:35 PM

It was WAY too cold to go outside this weekend, so I sat down with some seed beads and my new copy of Martha Stewart's Encyclopedia of Crafts and learned how to make different beaded flowers.

I love this bouquet because it's an explosion of colors! It's staying in my craft room!

Thanks so much for looking!  Grin
