1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Goat Skin? on: August 11, 2006 07:17:34 PM
My husband just walked in the door with a bag full of processed goat skins (black). Thinks he is funny in asking for me to make him some chaps!  Cheesy

It is about as thick as some of the vinyl I have worked with, but does anyone know if there are any other precaustions or measures I should take in using it. Can't wait to make a bag!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / In this oppressove heat I sew for fall/winter on: August 11, 2006 07:09:26 PM
I rummage through wools, felt, and dark fabrics while the central air does it's thing. I do mamange to slip in something a little brighter just to make the days go by easier. I have been sewing like a mad woman, thinking about doing a craft or trunk show this fall, and I will need to be prepared.

Made from new fabric

Recycled from a wool skirt purchased at GoodWill

Recycled from an old pair of jeans (mine)
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled turtleneck lives on as ... on: July 30, 2006 03:17:15 PM
I made an impulse purchase of fabric. Over $20+ per yard. Somedays I don't know what I am thinking. Great fabric, I really like it. I think the handbag turned out pretty good. The recycled turtleneck comes into play with the lining. There was a stain on the sleeve but I loved the color so I hide it in my stash. I was rummaging through my fabric stash when I came upon the turtleneck (cotton knit). What a combination, the most expensive fabric I have ever cut in to mixed with recycled clothing.
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Finally completed: Peter Max Handbag on: July 22, 2006 03:46:11 AM
I have had this fabric for what seems like forever, and have had this bag cut out, interfaced and ready to go, only to have it buried under others. Really, I had no idea as to what kind of interior fabric I wanted to use. Well, it is finally completed, and breathing new life.
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Over the Slump on: July 16, 2006 07:29:50 AM
I swear I will NEVER do custom work again! Not even for family and friends (sorry guys). I get my kicks from the fabrics I work with and sometimes doing custom work means having to sew with some "blah" fabrics. That project was finished up last week, but I found myself in a slump because of it. Depressed over the fabrics and I really didn't want my name on it either. But we have to move on, don't we! So yesterday I closed the door on the studio and forced myself back to work. I am so glad I did, because the slump has been magically lifted.  Cheesy
