11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / "The Clash" Messenger Bag from Vintage Dress on: September 26, 2007 11:34:19 PM
I made this bag several years ago. It was my first sewing project. (I totally taught myself to sew!) Of course, it wasn't too hard, because it's all straight stitching. Cheesy

My mom had this vintage dress from when she was in high school; back in the 50s. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it. Since it wasn't my size I decided to make something out of it. The only "new" part of the bag is The Clash patch, which my wife bought from Hot Topic   (I do my best not to shop there...or go within 100 feet of the mall if I can help it)

Anyway, my first sewing project. Not a great job, but definitely my favorite bag. Cheesy

12  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / Bored At Work / 'What can I make out of this File Folder' Challenge? on: September 25, 2007 11:59:23 AM
How about a challenge where we craft something out of materials from work? Preferably materials that they are not using or are about to throw out.

I made a valentine's day gift out of old supplies from work.  Grin I totally took old/torn materials from work and created this:
13  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Dirty Advertisement => Satirical Collages **NEW LINK*** on: September 24, 2007 11:17:30 AM
We received a "Sexually Oriented Ad" in the mail a couple of months ago.  It was addressed to the previous resident and/or "Current Resident," and was advertising a "male enhancement" product.

All of the images in the ad were male-centric. Each focused on the pleasure of the male. All the womyn in the ad were presented as mere objects, methods with which the males used to climax.

I decided to take the offensive images and reconstruct them in a manner which makes sense to me.

If you'd like to view the collages, you can go to this link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/12649825@N05/.
This is a new link. Please, let me know if it doesn't work. Smiley
Thanks, everyone.

Please remember that the collages contain adult/nude/sexual imagery.
14  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Vegan Breakfast/Protein Smoothies on: September 05, 2007 09:43:20 AM
This is the first time I've ever posted a recipe. *excited*

2           8 oz. containers of Soy Yogurt.
1 or 2     whole fruits (depending on your taste)
(berries, bananas and pineapple are my personal favs.)
2 1/2      scoops of Trader Joe's Organic Soy Protein Powder
2 to 3     cups of Organic Soy Milk.
1/4 tsp.   vanilla (optional)

Blend yogurt, protein powder, and 1 cup of the soy milk together in a blender. (This eliminates clumps and allows for smooth smoothie). Add fruit, blend. Add the remaining soy milk and/or vanilla. Blend until smooth.

Serves: 2 eighteen ounce servings.

This smoothie works best for two. We've found that it gets us through the morning and straight through to lunch. Protein is the key.
15  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Skull Cell Phone Cover. (Lots O' Pics) on: August 31, 2007 10:15:44 AM
I made this cover several months ago for my Samsung D807. It's made out of black and white felt. I used a blood-red embroidery thread to stitch it together. It was really easy AND I finally found, well..made, a Cell Phone cover that suits me.

16  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Punk Rock Love on: February 08, 2006 04:18:43 PM
I'm not a floofy girl, but my wife is.  So, I decided I'd make her a v-day gift with a punk edge (being that we're both of the punk disposition  Grin)   It includes the phrase, "I love You," in several different languages with varying font faces, Scriptures from the bible (that's right!) and romantic quotes from some of her favorite songs and poems.

Also, this is my first post and book ever on Craftster!!  (yay!)

Materials Used:
Dated letter head from work for the pages
Cereal boxes for the cover
Acrylic Paints: Metallic Pewter and Silver
Fine, Red Glitter
Tacky Glue
Large Staples and Stapler (from work, of course)

I wanted an industrial-ish metal finish, but I don't know how to work with metal. I opted for cereal boxes from the recycling bin and a pewter paint.  I added a bit of my Diva self--represented by the glitter.

This is the cover of the 50+ page book.
